Task 3: If there’s a team I’d like to get “Revenge” on with the Austin Copperheads in the S20 season, it would have to be the New Orleans Second Line. Not that they did anything wrong, but this season started with Marcella Toriki’s free agency, and it came down to the two of us. They won the battle for bex. That left a big hole in our offense, and Austin struggled for most of the season. In Week 2, we took the lead from them with 4 minutes to go, going up 24-20. They scored with a minute left to beat us 27-24. In week 10, we took a 21-9 lead on them going into the second half before it all fell apart and before we knew it we lost 30-24. However, we miraculously made the playoffs, and once again faced off with them. Things started off REALLY well for us, and once again we found ourselves walking into halftime with a 14-3 lead. And for whatever reason, the second half just wasn’t kind to us yet again and as a result, we lost 28-17, allowing 18 4th quarter points. It wasn’t as though New Orleans did anything wrong, but three close losses in games I feel we should’ve won really gets that “taste” of revenge going. We’ll get ‘em next season for sure. (222)
Task 5: The Austin Copperheads have discovered that they may have a few holes that need to be addressed this offseason. After losing star RB Ashley Owens to the Colorado Yeti in the offseason, Austin was unable to properly replace that production in their offense in S19 and it showed. With the lack of a proper WR3 or RB2, the Austin offense wasn’t nearly as dynamic as it was in S18, and that caused the team to regress on that side of the ball in S19. For S20, finding that offensive player to make things “complete” is priority number 1. As for the defensive side of things, well, it was rough when Austin had to give up promising DT Brayden Ennis, and that hurt the defensive line as a whole. With sack machine Grayson Kuusela not getting any younger, it is also imperative for the Copperheads to address the defensive line as well. Lucky for them, they have a few prime picks in the upcoming draft, so hopefully we can address these needs either in the draft or in free agency. Or perhaps, internally. Luckily, while it seems there’s a few holes in Austin, the team has the ability to patch them up soon. (202)
Task 10 – First off, it’s a shame that Dwyer is stepping down. He’s the main reason that the NSFL has been as successful as it has been so far, and we are all indebted to him. With that, I do have a few ideas for a world where I’d be crazy enough to try to be commissioner of this league. First thing I would do: PAY FUCKING MEDIA GRADERS MORE. It’s hard enough to get people to do the job as it is, but once they realize they’re only getting $4 million? People don’t care about it. Our jobs are a bit underpaid, and HO is just straight up douchey about it. Well, some of our jobs are underpaid. HO gets more than enough money the mostly nothing that they do. The second thing I’d do is find a way to get the banking system in the NSFL to be a lot more the one bojo made in the SHL. It has made a lot of things easier in terms of keeping track of bank accounts, easier way to do weekly trainings or get equipment, and paying things out. To me, I think sim leagues need to be a mostly fantastic user experience, and I feel like a few of these ideas could help that immediately. (214)
Task 16 – This is my favorite task of all. The thing that makes me the happiest in all of the NSFL is telling everyone just why the Austin Copperheads are going to be the NSFL’s next great dynasty. I mean, it’s pretty obvious that they have the next great QB of the league in Easton Cole, and trust me, he’s not going anywhere. He’s getting close to maxing his stats out. The offense still has the league’s best receiver in Rod Tidwell, who’s also only getting better. Philip Larsen is still a great TE. Mako Mendonca is a fantastic running back as well. The Copperheads are poised to acquire one more excellent piece in free agency or through the draft (where we have the first and fifth picks) for the offense. The defense is led by Dermot Lavelle Jr and Chase Jensen in the secondary, while the defensive line has sack master Grayson Kuusela on the front end. Add in Honda Edmond as the bad ass LB, and this team is ready for seasons to come. Needless to say, with the upcoming draft, Austin is looking to solidify any perceived holes in the lineup and become the next great dynasty in the league. (201)
