2: It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas when most people get together with their family and friends to eat, drink and be merry together. What better way to cap off this brilliant season than a spot of football on the telly and even better if your favourite team happens to be competing in it. Due to the date the Ultimus falls on this year the league has decided to go all out and jolly up the experience for everyone involved. In North America it's winter over the christmas period and what's more winter than snow? Due to not being able to guarantee the weather the league has trucked in 100 tonnes of fake snow to cover the entire field, something we think will be really popular with all the players. On top of this both teams have been issued with special one off christmas uniforms to wear! In the style of Christmas jumpers the Otters will be sporting orange and black snowman jerseys with multi coloured christmas tree LED's wound through the helmet while the Wraiths will have black and white Rudolph and Elf jerseys with fresh picked holly sewn into all the seams to emphasis their nefarious side.
9: In terms of players that Thor Kirkby considers his greatest and closest friends who doesn't share his locker room over on the Minnesota Grey Ducks would have to be Portland Pythons wide receiver Darnell Johnson. Kirkby and Johnson have been friends for life with both their fathers also being close to each other. Curiously enough Darnell Johnson's father is actually called Daniel Bischoff so I don't know what happened there but in this modern day who am I to judge. The Kirkby's and the Johnson/Bischoffs used to spend every SHL offseason, where their fathers ply their trade, at the beaches and in the jungles of Hawaii. There was an old Scottish bloke who used to run a restaurant there on Maui and Daniel Bischoff used to go absolutely made for Haggis which everyone else thought was pretty gross honestly. Sadly for Kirkby, Darnell Johnson hasn't been super dedicated to his training and as such it is unlikely that they fulfill their childhood dreams of playing together in the NSFL and will have to content themselves by matching up against each other if Darnell ever manages to make the step up from the Pythons to the Sabrecats who recently drafted him.
11: In terms of heroic performances its hard to look past Darryl Williams on the Minnesota Grey Ducks. Rather than any single performance it was his efforts spread across the entire season. As a rookie he lead the entire DSFL in rushing attempts and total yards while coming in tied second for total number of touchdowns. Throughout the season Minnesota struggled to get the ball going in the air and leaned heavily upon their defense and rookie kicker Silver Banana to get them over the line. However Williams was an ever present rock on on offense called upon in all situations to dig the Grey Ducks out of a hole. Whether it was busting a few yards to create breathing space on their own goal line, making big gains in the centre field or crashing over for six points Williams was everywhere. In the final four regular games of the season which Minnesota needed to win out to have any chance of topping their division Darryl Williams essentially put the team on his shoulders. Averaging over five yards per carry in every game and scoring touch downs in two of the games the Grey Ducks took all four games to set themselves up with a home game against the Pythons before eventually going on to secure the chip.
