3) Revenge
In the ASFC, the team that is always viewed as the greatest rival to beat is the Otters; but in this case taking into account what transpired during season 19, Austin became the next season’s target for the Outlaws. The reason for the latter is that the Copperheads ended their run with the same record as the Outlaws, though with the tie breaker being the two games they won against Arizona, they managed to advance to the playoffs. What really hurt in this situation was the first loss that came early in the season, which was a game played at home and usually according to recent seasons a win was very attainable; the second game at Austin had a terrible result (blown out 48-10) but most of the time the series split with a victory for both teams. Season 20 means a great change for the Outlaws starting with QB Reese retirement and the beginning of Cue’s run, hopefully that doesn't mean the team would not be able to at least win one of the two games against Austin; I'm sure Arizona is going to give the extra effort in those games to prove that the team belongs in the playoffs, the results did not mean the team is easy to beat and to get revenge against the Copperheads for leaving us out in season 19.
6) Recruitment
Building a team from scratch is not an easy task, though if I wanted to give the team a chance to contend I would start with two things: having two key players one for the offense and one for the defense, as well as do many test run with the sim to find the best strategy for it to work. Let's start with the players, more specifically the offense, in which finding a good QB should be number one priority; but it’s a certain truth that rookie QBs have a hard time in the sim, so getting one that's somewhat active (probably around round 3 or 4) should be good enough to start. What would get this unit a boost is finding an active running back and a receiver (2nd round of the draft for RB and round 4 or later for WR); the RB should be the one with the most significant amount of plays in the beginning of the team’s development to take some pressure of the QB, who should have a reliable weapon from the start to get the offense going. As for the defense, the one player that should be considered to be drafted in the first couple of rounds is a linebacker; from there, a safety and at least one active D-lineman should be added from the later rounds. Of course to achieve all of this, some trades would be needed before and during the draft, with the special care of not giving up entirely resources of next seasons to have something remaining to build the team. The most important task to keep a team running would be to come up with good strats, and this needs some time investment before and during the season to run as many tests as possible.
9) Brotherly Love
One team that I always love to play against is the Colorado Yeti. When my career was just getting started on season 15, the Yeti was one of the teams interested in drafting me and I really thought I was going to be there. If I ever leave Arizona, the Yeti would be at the top of my list of teams that I would like to join. I really enjoy watching the Arizona vs Colorado game every season and was cheering for them this time since they finally made it into the playoffs after being out so many consecutive seasons. They really have a core of fantastic players starting with one of the best wide receivers in the league, James Bishop, who’s always giving a performance deserving to be a mention in the top 5. Also, they have one of the best defensive players of the season 15 class in Mo Berry, who has proven himself since his rookie year and deserved all the awards he claimed. Their recent free agent signing, running back Ashley Owens has been of great help for the Yeti’s offense and I'm sure is great locker room guy since I know him from the time he was with the Outlaws as legendary kicker Jackson. I hope that one day, Colorado is able to make it all the way to the Ultimus and finally get their win.
11) Heroic Performance
Otters’ QB Franklin Armstrong has a proven record since his debut with the team of guiding Orange County to a dominance never seen before in the history of the league. He has many amazing performances up to this point, but if we want to give the status of heroic to one, at least for season 19, let's give a look to the Ultimus game. During the fourth quarter, the Otters were losing by 4 points at the 4:40 minute mark after Wraiths RB Drake just scored a touchdown. From there, Armstrong with all the confidence in the world decided to go for everything and after one run and three passing attempts he found his WR Mongo for a 27 yard touchdown which would give the Otters the lead with 2:22 remaining on the clock. That score would be enough to give them the win. What's really amazing of Armstrong's performance is that he gave his team a rough start with 2 sacks and an interception during the first quarter. He didn't lose his confidence after those mistakes and managed to produce a turnaround for the last half of the game. This is what we call a heroic performance, which by this point is always to be expected to come from someone like Armstrong during important games.
