After the initial partying and such that happens immediately after the game, the Ultimus champions go on a tour around to each of the nine other NSFL towns to give speeches, much like the Hunger Games victor does with the other districts. During these speeches, players will regale the captive audience about big plays that the champions made against their team, discredit their stars, or otherwise display their dominance over the losing teams. The home team is normally sitting on stage to listen to the roasts directly. Per custom, the teams sit in silence, letting the champions have their time. However, if someone speaks up in protest the champions are permitted to tackle them to the ground. After the trip through the NSFL towns, the DSFL towns are visited next. Players under the champion’s control that played for the DSFL team during the season are held in high honor (though most believe it’s meant to be sarcastic in nature). Players belonging to other teams are usually ignored, and the rookies that are yet to be drafted are basically told that if the champion team doesn’t pick them it’s because they weren’t good enough (even if they are drafted first round before the champions even have a chance to pick). The purpose of this exercise was designed to give the other teams motivation to unseat the champions next season and encourage parity.
Of course, that’s what my big brother told me when he was making fun of me for losing against him the other day, that the winner gets to make fun of the loser just like in the NSFL, but I’m not sure I believe him…
