As a newcomer to the league, and to American football in general, Otis Allen is not entirely familiar with the celebration traditions of past Ultimus champions. Until he had entered the DSFL, Otis had never really kept up with any of the Ultimus championships, and always turned off the TV after the clock hit zero. Following the outside aspects of the game never really appealed to him; he assumed the players would do as most athletes do and pop some champagne in the locker room.
When Otis entered the DSFL last year, playing on a temporary contract with the Tijuana Luchadores, he had the opportunity to see the Ultimini championship celebrated. The problem was that it wasn’t Otis doing the celebrating. The Minnesota Grey Ducks had beaten the Luchadores in the championship, taking the celebration opportunity away from Allen and his team.
This upset loss did give Allen the opportunity to consider how he would have celebrated his championship had he been in the shoes of a Grey Ducks player. Sure, he would have done the classic locker room celebration of putting on the ski goggles and popping champagne. He would do the parades and the fan greetings, in hopes that that would showcase his appreciation for the folks that supported his team’s road to victory. But what he’d look forward to most would be a glass of wine, a bubble bath, and relishing in the sweet comfort of victory.
