In my humble opinion, defensive tackle Bjorn Ironside should be a lock for the Pro Bowl this year, and should certainly be in the Defensive Lineman of the Year conversation. Season 19 was not especially good for Ironside: the Second Line went 8-5 to secure a playoff spot, but Bjorn finished the regular season with just 37 tackles and 7 sacks. His playoff numbers weren't much better, recording 6 tackles and a lone sack across New Orleans' two playoff games. But after an offseason spent looking in the mirror and adjusting his workouts, Ironside has emerged as one of the league's most dominant defensive linemen. At the conclusion of another winning season for New Orleans, Ironside has 59 tackles to his name, which is first among all defensive linemen. Additionally, he recorded 12 sacks, which is tied for second in the entire league. Only time will tell how he performs in the playoffs this time around, but I'd expect him to dominate the line the same way he has all season. If--and when--New Orleans finally wins the Ultimus, it will be in no small part because of Ironside's incredible efforts in the trenches. The Second Line squad has long recognized him as one of the best players in the NSFL. Maybe by winning Defensive Lineman of the Year will get the rest of the league to see him in the same way.
