The San Jose Sabercats had a rough season, going 4-10, but it didn't deter their die hard fans from selling out every home game. They are clamoring for more success and they do everything they can to help the team on the field. Before every game, home and away, they have a tradition to "paint the town green and gold." They do this by from town to town in the surrounding San Jose area and throw green and gold streamers anywhere and everywhere. It may not be received well by non-fans of the team, due to the need for cleaning up, but the fans have fun with it and more times than not you will see them cleaning up once the games are over. Not only pre game do they have a community based ritual but on every 3rd down while on defense one side of the stadium chants "Saber" and the other follow suits with the chant "Cats" and then all together they chant a loud rawr just before the play is ran. Many fans have their own traditions and pre game rituals as well but the community based ones help bring everyone together for one common cause. Root on the Sabercats and hope for future success. It takes a lot to continue these weekly rituals when your team goes 4-10 and misses the playoffs but San Jose is a passionate fan base and they are fully dedicated to the team.
