1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews:
Written: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches. If completed before the airing of the sims, give your predictions; if it is afterwards, give a review of the game.
I will of course be giving a short preview and prediction for the upcoming NSFC Conference Championship game between the Yellowknife Wraiths and the Colorado Yeti. The two best teams in the NSFC meet to see who will be hoisting the NSFC championship and representing them in the Ultimus. The Yellowknife Wraiths have home field advantage in the championship game for the third year in a row and are looking to make their third straight Ultimus appearance. The season series was tied 1-1 with the home team emerging victorious on both occasions. Looking forward to the game, I think the biggest focus will be on the defenses of both teams. They are definitely both top 4 defenses in the league currently and especially the pass rush of the Yeti is something scary and what every team facing them fears. On the other hand the Wraiths rely more on their secondary to do the work for them and their athletic linebacker group, although Mo Berry might have a few things to say about that. Both offenses have talent on their roster and have put up points on the board when needed. In the end I think the difference will come down to the quarterbacks. McDummy has taken huge steps this season but Bigsby has been at it for so long and he wants a title and will drive the Wraiths to the Ultimus, Wraiths 27 - Yeti 21.
4) Rivalry
Written: Which team or player would you consider to be your greatest rival? Write 200 words on why you are rivals with them and why you want them to lose (don’t harass other users please).
Well I have only been in the league for a short while, since Season 17 or 18, depending on do you count the DSFL or NSFL. But anyway, in my short time in the league, one team has become a clear rival for me and probably the Yellowknife Wraiths too and that is the damn Orange County Otters. We have now had two straight Ultimus appearances against them and have had home field advantage for both of them. Yet they have somehow been able to find ways to win both of them! This year we are again looking to win it all and sadly we will not have a chance to beat the Otters on the way. I am not sure what is more infuriating about this all. The fact that we have both seasons been clearly the best team in the league and had the best regular season record, with which we have been able to get our home field advantage and still lose because of the Orange County Otters voodoo or the fact that this franchise (where I am talking about the Orange County Otters) has never missed the playoffs in their existence and is the modern day NSFL Patriots and that makes me sick to my stomach. So yeah although I love the people and management in Orange County, damn you Otters!
6) Expansion
Written: There have been a lot of new players entering the league recently. If you were in charge of a new expansion team for the NSFL or DSFL, how would you go about it?
Well from what we have seen from the previous expansion there are two clear extremes that you can go down (or do something in between) and both of them have their own pros and cons. The Chicago method is to sell all your future draft picks to win now and hope you succeed and if they had won their first year where they had the best roster in the league, people would not be laughing at them as much. The Austin way is to amass draft capital to put yourself in a better place for the future but acknowledge that you will suck really bad in the first years. They have gone from not winning any games in their inaugural year to now being in the ASFC Championship game as the home field team. I think I would definitely go the Austin route and no disrespect to Chicago or anyone who decides upon doing that strategy. I feel that I would not be hunting after instant success, although I do see the appeal for that. I would rather build for the long term and want to be more invested into the franchise and not let the sim crumble and destroy all my dreams in my first season and to have a bleak future waiting for me. Even with bad results in the first few seasons, I would have a young and hungry core of players that I could build around bring an Ultimus in the future to the city
9) Brotherly Love
Written: We always talk about what teams and players are our rivals. This season, give me what team or player you have a soft spot for.
Last year I talked about my friend Hallmonitor and just to be a bit different I will discuss another player, although otherwise I would have talked about Hall for another 200 words. This year I am going to talk about our very own Jay Cue or Opera_Phantom as he is known as. This young quarterback marvel came into the league in the same season as I did, but as he chose to play quarterback he is only being able to experience his first NSFL season during this season and man what a season it has been for him! He has looked like one of the best QB’s in the league and has a shot at winning rookie of the year, offensive player of the year and most valuable player even! But back to Jay Cue and how we both came into the league in Season 17. He is also a European brother to me and it was great having another Euro boy in the same rookie class as me so it did not feel like I was the only one in a sea of Americans. It was nice to have someone to chat to during the times where Americans were sleeping. I also felt like a pretty old person in our draft class so it was nice to have someone even older than me. It has been great seeing an old friend like Jay Cue play as amazing as he has!
