Task 1 – Playoff Review: The Austin Copperheads walked into the Ultimus the same way they walked into their Conference Championship: As underdogs. Despite the fact that Austin won their conference (beating the Salty Second Line twice) and they scored just 1 point less than Yellowknife in the regular season while allowing 34 less points in the tougher conference, the league decided the Copperheads were just really lucky instead of good. The end results, as they have all season, showed the truth. Austin 26, New Orleans 17. Austin 37, Yellowknife 20. The Copperheads are your champions because regardless of how many times you run tests, it doesn’t mean shit on the field. In the Ultimus, Austin proceeded to come out FLYING. Before the 1st quarter ended, Easton Cole had found Jacoby Clay and Rod Tidwell for touchdowns and a 14-0 lead. The Wraiths would finally get on the board in the second quarter with a field goal, but Cole would find Tidwell again on a 23 yard touchdown that gave the Sneks a 21-3 lead at the half. Yellowknife’s halftime adjustments would help them a little bit in the third quarter, as Bigsby would find Nate Swift for a TD and the teams would trade field goals to head into the final quarter 24-13. But the Copperheads would continue their onslaught, as the defense stifled the Wraiths again and again, while the offense would continually move into the red zone. Austin would settle for two more field goals before Net Gaines’ 3 yard TD reception put the final nail in the Wraiths’ coffin. Hanyadi would score a garbage time TD that didn’t mean anything with a minute to go, and Austin would walk away with a dominant 37-20 Ultimus win. (285)
Task 4 – Without a doubt the rival of the Austin Copperheads is quickly becoming the New Orleans Second Line. In our second season, our players weren’t playing at full strength with TPE in Week 1, and we barely lost to them. Once the mistake was found, HO decided to re-play the game due to the unfairness and Austin, at full strength, defeated New Orleans to get its first ever victory! And then Second Line players and management cried and cried and cried (this will soon become a staple for the franchise) and HO overturned it just to get them to shut up. Fast forward to present day, New Orleans is marred in controversy as they deleted evidence and used nefarious ways to “build” their roster up, and they came to realize that they just couldn’t hang with Austin. With each loss, the Second Line players and management continued to cry about how they projected themselves to win every time and how great they are and how lucky Austin is, blah blah blah. Head Office considered moving the team to Salt Lake because of how many tears they spill. The bottom line is this: In 3 games against New Orleans, Austin had a 100% winning percentage, going 3-0 against the Purple Pouters. (Really guys! It’s not fair!) In those 3 games, Austin outscored New Orleans 92 – 58. Besides the fact that the Second Line defense can’t stop Easton Cole and the Copperheads offense, the Second Line offense can’t do a damn thing against the dominant Copperhead defense either. One game being lucky? Sure. Three games of dominance? Well, you better get some new sim testers over there, and hurry. Oh and @JuOSu ? Don’t worry about our name. You can just call us the Champions. Task 11 – The Playoff MVP conversation isn’t even that hard this time around. It’s cocky and self serving but its OBVIOUS that the MVP is none other than EASTON COLE BAY BAY! Being shit on by many for throwing too many pick sixes, all of which were his receiver’s fault, heading into the playoffs really bothered Cole and he vowed to have a great playoff, which he certainly did. Cole played two games this playoff and won them both. He threw for a total of 564 yards and 5 touchdowns in the playoffs, including his STERLING Ultimus MVP performance of 322 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was electric this offseason, and with 3 more red zone drives that ended in a short field goal, he had a real chance to throw for even more scores. There were no pick sixes at all, although yes, he did throw one interception in each game. However he’s playing in the conference championship and the Ultimus games, those are some good defenses he’s facing. Interceptions are likely there. But what else did Cole do? While he’s no Franklin Armstrong (because Cole can actually throw the ball), Easton ran for 131 yards in the playoffs as well, giving him 695 total yards in the S20 playoffs. He just killed it this playoff. Easton Cole, your playoff MVP. (220)
Task 16 – It’s bothersome that you didn’t just watch the NSFL playoffs and realize why the Austin Copperheads are going to be the NSFL’s next dynasty. In one playoff, Austin decimated the two teams most likely to challenge for that “next dynasty up” title in the league, New Orleans and Yellowknife. Austin has been building their core since Day One, and the team has finally hit our peak. We are the Ultimus Champions, we won our conference in the regular season, our defense is beyond awesome, and our offense is elite. We have young players in their prime all over the place in all of the important positions. Anyone on the team that’s a bit older we plan to get replacements for in free agency or in future drafts. Our cap has been well managed. Every sign we have is trending upwards, and its only going to continue that way. We build houses, not rent them. Our foundation is stronger than any other team out there. We have better sim testers. We have it all. And we’re going to keep winning. Get used to it. Well, all of this assuming Chicago stops giving studs to Orange County anyway. But even then, we’ll be ready for them. (204)
