1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews:
Once again the Yellowknife Wraiths made it to the Ultimus game, and like the last 3 seasons we lost, but now it's time to look back and see how the Wraiths even made it there in the 1st place. First up was the Quarterfinals game against the Philadelphia Liberty where Cooter Bigsby had 5 passing TDs, 2 going to rookie TE Rayne Gordon. Both of our RBs had over 75 rushing yards a piece and our secondary had 3 INTs. The 37-14 was one of the biggest scorelines of the post season, and was a solid all around performance for everyone who was involved. Next up were the Colorado Yeti's in the Conference Championship game were we won 40 -24. During the game we had a pick six and Cooter Bigsby threw TDs to 3 different players. While the passing yards were fairly even the Wraiths doubled up the Yeti's in rushing yards and were better on 3rd down. In the Ultimus the Wraiths played the Arizona Copperheads were we lost 37-20. The Copperheads ran out to early 21-3 lead that the Wraiths couldn't battle back from. What really did the Wraiths in was going 8/22 on 3rd down and falling to score inside the redzone.
5) Armchair GM
As an Armchair GM I would just piggyback off of Shadyshoelace, I would replace the hole left by the retiring WR Helanen, which the Wraith's GM already has done. Looking at Yellowknife's roster I would say the biggest hole is the DT position. Since DL is highly coveted in the league it's not easy to find especially in free agency, which means finding the next star DT in the draft. Most scouts say the number 1 DT on the board is Otis Allen from the Portland Pythons with a crazy 12 TFL. But Sardine Beaner (Minnesota Grey Ducks), Pete Miller (Norfolk SeaWolves), Rapid Eagle (Myrtle Beach Buccaners), and Riles McTackle are no slouches themselves. Considering only Allen is considered a 1st round draft pick it's possible for the Wraiths to sit back and choose someone else in the 1st and take one the DTs in the 2nd round. Next I would be taking a look at Safety as one of our safeties are making the switch to LB during the off season, plus it's always nice to have depth at that position. Then maybe take a look at taking a QB to groom behind Bigsby for a couple of seasons. We'll see what actually ends up happening though, there's probably a reason why some people are paid to be a GM and I am not.
16) Dynasty
The Yellowknife Wraiths are going to be the next dynasty in the NSFL. They have been to the Ultimus in each of the past 3 seasons, but just haven't been able to get that last win. Even though it's been 3 straight loses, winning is in the Wraiths blood and it's only a matter of time before the CHampionships start coming in. Well that ends next season, they have a great young offensive core with Orien Drake, Mathias Hanyadi, Rayne Gordon, and Bender Rodriguez yet to hit their prime. The young core is paired with stars Nate Swift, and Cooter Bigsby. On defense they have 3rd year pro Jayson Kearse helping a group of terrifying defenders; Nero Alexander, Mervin Leonard, Johnny Snuggles, Danny Grithead, Alex Selich, Maurice Virtanen, and Giannis Kroustis. Considering the GMs for Yellowknife are never afraid to trade picks away, we may even see the GMs trade some picks in what is considered a deep draft to sure up a position somewhere on the team. Considering this team is only going to get better, I can see this team making another 3 Ultimus except this time they defy history and win 3 in a row. One thing is for-sure the future is very bright in Yellowknife.
