Playoff Review
With the first playoff match-up of season 20, we have the 7-6 Yeti going up against the 9-4 Wraiths who are trying to capture an Ultimus win after a three-point loss to the Otters in last year's game. With a high powered offense the Wraiths came out firing with two receivers gaining over 100 yards and both running backs rushing over 70 yards, it also helps that yeti QB Wolfie McDummy threw 2 interceptions and the yeti offense punted 6 times. Wraiths took a well-earned win 40-24.
The second match-up over on the ASFC side is the 7-6 Second Line against the 8-5 Copperheads. Neither team put up significant team stats except for the Copperheads who led the league in the least amount of points allowed despite being fifth in total yards, sixth in rushing, and fourth in passing. What would have been a close one-point win for the Second Line if the second quarter did not exist, turned into a 9 point loss for them. A rather defensive game where each team's quarterbacks threw an interception and both teams punted seven or more times. The deciding factor was the second quarter where the copperhead scored 10 unanswered points giving them the edge and securing their spot in the Ultimus.
The Ultimus was a game of pure dominance from the Copperhead, they looked like a completely different team going into this game. Easton cole threw for four touchdowns while adding 70 rushing yards. The copperhead played a sound defense with 3 players in double-digit tackles and 2 more intercepting passes. A complete dominance against the best team in the league to take home the Ultimus trophy.
2) League Milestone
Easily without a doubt, the most thrilling playoff game happened back in a time when there were only 8 teams, Ballerstorm was active, and we only believed ER had one character I take you to the season 4 ASFC conference championship game. The game wasn’t close that made it thrilling. It's the fact that the 9-5 otters who for the last 3 seasons have been the Outlaws first victim in the playoffs as they went on to be the 3 time and only champs. This season was different from the rest Mike boss and the Otters receiving core were tearing up the league and the outlaws gained Josh Garden who is known to be cursed (did not win a playoff game until 2021) along with a top 2 defense this was a match-up to be watched. With an early 10-3 lead after the first quarter, the Otters kept their foot on the gas. Entering the 4th 27-9 it was all but a waiting game for the league to see the villains of the league finally fall to the heroes of the story and eventually knock out their dynasty. The game was legendary because they stopped a powerhouse team of multi’s and started the Otter slaughter.
