(S21) - PT3 - Quarantine

This SIM league has been one of the more fun experiences I’ve had this year, although that’s not a high bar to set considering everything going on in the world these days. Speaking of, this COVID-19 business has been devastating to the sports world. With the NSFL the only game in town, I find myself even more focused on it than I was before. I’m checking the claim thread multiple times a day just to see if there’s something I can throw onto my update page. If the season were to be suspended, I would be incredibly upset. My player, Lawrence Bass, has been making a big impact and it’s been exciting to watch his numbers grow. Seeing that come to a halt would be saddening to say the least. Currently, he’s got Safety Buck Thornton helping him stay strong during these times of isolation. The Grey Ducks are so close to turning the corner and making a run at the playoffs as well. We’re one week’s worth of wins from being right in the mix. I’d hate to see that get cut short; wondering “what if” forever.

Communication and interaction would take a big hit if the season got cancelled, and that, I think, would be the worst side effect. I’ve really enjoyed chatting with everyone in the discord channels, and certainly that would continue, but traffic would definitely decrease if there weren’t any games to discuss or strategize for. While I assume this is an exercise for fun, if the NSFL were to actually suspend league activities this year, I think there would be a justifiably large drop-off in player base as well. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that!
