I am a lifelong believer in the idea that defense wins championships. Now I am certainly biased, but I truly believe that New Orleans has the best defense in the entire league. During our historic 9-0 run to start the season, the Second Line defense allowed just 150 points, or 16.67 points per game. In our only two losses of the season, they allowed a total of 49 points, or 24.5 points per game. So, in the two games we lost, we allowed just one more touchdown on average. The Orange County Otters, who many would view as the second-best team in the league, only scored 17 points in their win against us (they only scored 17 points in their Week 5 loss against us, hinting that the defense was not the problem). If those games had been bigger blowouts, or we were losing more in general, maybe then I'd be worried. But with the team currently sitting at 9-2, with those two losses being by 3 and 4 points respectively, I still feel more than confident in this team's chances.
And looking at the defense we're fielding this season, it's clear why we've been so dominant. We've got a great front four in Ironside, Tu'inukuafe, Arianlacher, and Faux. We've got two phenomenal linebackers in me and Slothface, both of whom are currently over 1000 TPE. And our secondary unit of Taylor, Andrews, Rector, Adams, and Blaylock has proven effective at shutting down the passing game, which is a real benefit in a pass-happy league like this one. I feel incredibly proud to be part of such a deep and talented defensive roster, and I'm fully confident that this is a championship caliber roster.
(Also our offense is okay.)
