What a year for the Norfolk Seawolves. What. A. Year.
Being a rookie, I really didn't know what to expect in my first season. Would we be championship favorites? Cellar dwellers? Or somewhere in between? As soon as I entered the Norfolk locker room, though, I knew we had something special.
The players, and more importantly, the PEOPLE have propelled this crazy, magical season. A solid start saw the SeaWolves begin the season at 3-1. Spirits were high in the locker room, but we all knew there was still plenty of work to do. An up and down stretch in the middle of the season was followed by a heart-breaking three game losing streak at the worst possible time. The SeaWolves were making a playoff push and this was potentially devastating. Did the locker room implode? Did the players turn on each other? Of course not. We all know Norfolk are best folk, and the entire team showed it. We all rallied around each other, and finished the season on an incredible three game winning streak to make the playoffs. Talk about a turnaround!
Finishing the season at 8-6, the SeaWolves are peaking at the perfect time and I truly believe the quality and character of the people in our locker room is THE reason why we're in the position we're in.
Is Norfolk taking home the trophy? I believe so. And not just because of our incredible talent (of which there is plenty), but because of our incredible chemistry.
