2) Playoffs MVP
I’m gonna cheat slightly and give two players co-MVP for NOLA’s big win against the defending champion Austin Copperheads. The two headed rushing attack of Gump and Toriki combined for 264 yards of the 432 total yards the offense gained in the game. They also both added rushing touchdowns in the game, which were our only touchdowns in the game. The only other points scored in the game for NOLA were from kicker Herbert Prohaska who had 11 points kicking. Austin could not find an answer for Gump or Toriki all game as Gump had 6.2 yards per carry and Toriki finished with 5.8 yards per carry. Both very impressive numbers. They were basically a one two punch combo the entire game. Gump would come in and have a few rushes in a row and then Toriki would take over and it would just continue like this back and forth down the field. Gump had a 20 yard long rush and Toriki’s long was 17 yards. I can’t really give the nod to either player, because they both did just as much to help the team win this game, so that’s why I’m giving Gump and Toriki co-MVP for the NOLA wildcard game against Austin.
3) X-Factor
For the New Orleans Second Line I think our x-factor player that will lead us to a win on the road against the menaces that are the Orange County Otters will be none other than Johnny Slothface. This is Slothface's last year as a member of the Second Line and I just think he wants to go out in style, and what's more important than finally getting over the hump and winning the ASFC Championship game? This is the third year in a row the Second Line have played on the road in the ASFC Championship game, and I don't think any of us want to see a third loss in a row. Johnny especially since he will fly into the sun of retirement at the end of the season. I think Johnny will be a monster making plays all over the field and don't be surprised if he forces a turnover in this one. The Otters are typically very careful with the ball, but Johnny is hungry for a win and a big forced fumble or interception might be just the thing to put the Second Line over the top in this one to finally make it to the big game for the first time in a long time.
19) Team Culture
I can't speak from a place of much experience as I've only been a part of the New Orleans Second Line locker room, but I know our locker room could hold up with any other team's locker room. There is a ton of camaraderie in the locker room and everyone seems to be happy to be there and having a good time. There is always someone around to help give advice if you need it for anything from drafting in fantasy to just general life advice. There's a ton of talent in the locker room with some amazing graphics being created from a few different members of the team. Hippo and I try and write a little post after every game giving a player from each side of the ball a game ball to keep the morale boosted whether we are coming off a win or loss. The GMs are very good about communicating with the team on what the plan is for things so they aren't blindsided by moves they might be making. I've made some of my closest internet friends being in the NOLA locker room and I hope to be a part of it for a very long time.
20) Nostalgia
I'm hoping the answer to this is different in a few days. There's a few different memories I have that I might consider one of my happiest memories. Finding out I got drafted by NOLA and would be joining my Norfolk Seawolf teammate Isa in NOLA was super exciting for me. TomHanks and Isa were huge in helping me get reinvigorated in the league and become a max earner. I honestly don't think I would still be in the league if I hadn't been drafted by NOLA. Another one was our win in the playoffs last year when we took down the Otters in the wildcard round. They had won like three Ultimus' in a row and I was just ecstatic to take them down. In the same vein the win on the road in Orange County this season was a huge memory too. Everyone knows how hard it is to win on the road and taking down one of the most dominant teams in the league on the road was huge. Of course they returned the favor a few weeks later, so I think my happiest memory has to be getting drafted by NOLA, which lead to eventually becoming a member of the War Room and I plan on being a member of NOLA for life.
