In my first year in professional football, I've been spending my time drilling against a class of players I hadn't been up against every day before. OL stars like Simon Tremblay, Douglas Quail, and Bruce Buckley plus chipping monster Heath Evans have helped me get a new understanding of the weaknesses in my run defense and pass-rush game. Buckley had this to say:
To that end, I'm planning on spending the S21-S22 offseason to get my weight up another 20 or so pounds, or more if I can feel comfortable and keep my speed up. I know I can't compete with Lizzo and eat a Phat Boi sized burger in 115.3 seconds, but I'm confident I can manage that much burger in the course of the entire offseason. If it were really important I could probably do more, but I think it will be important to get used to rushing and blocking at a new higher weight, as well as to make sure that I'm not losing strength in exchange for bulk. I think my current playing weight was the right choice for my college environment but the DSFL is a step up and the NSFL is even beyond that. I look forward to coordination with team nutritionist Dr. terriblehippo in the offseason to get me dialed into my new weight for whichever NSFL team I am drafted by for next year. Every professional source I've consulted has agreed that the additional leverage you get out of playing with the same speed and strength but at a higher weight is invaluable in moving from a good player to a great player, and so that is my primary goal for the offseason. My secondary goal (for NSFL teams interested in my training plans) is to ensure I am as fast as possible. Ideally, I'll manage to use my next-generation Teeps Protective Equipment? to make that happen at my new weight. Bruce Buckley Wrote:I've been working with Troen during scheduled training sessions and extra sessions at well. We have been working on drills, techniques and other things as well. We spend hours and hours working on 1v1 drills with it ending it a draw pretty much. The most important thing about our training was the celebration afterwards where we went out to Maccas and ate a pile of food. Its crucial we both get our weight up so we can perform in the pros. We both know how hard it will be, but we are determined.
