1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews:
Championship Game, Portland Pythons @ Kansas City Coyotes
In the battle for the crown of the NFC North the Portland Pythons had to make their way to the division leaders, the Kansas City Coyotes. Their season games were split at 1-1, with the home team winning each matchup.
The Pythons were to receive the ball in the first half and they didn’t want to leave a doubt that they are prepared for the game. They started furiously and went in their first drive all over the field into the opponent's Red Zone. A short rush by Zed Keppler lead to the first Touchdown of the game.
This impressing drive was nothing the Coyotes wanted to leave unanswered. A good return brought them already in good field position, an important conversion on third down brought them near Red Zone. But the drive stalled and left the Coyotes with a field goal. Now it was time for KC’s Defense to show up. The first 3 and out of the game. But it was not the only one, as a three and out streak began until the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter Kansas City rushed in it’s first drive with only using ground attack to the Portland 5. Fujiwara ends the drive with a pass to Witheblock which brings KC the 10-7 lead. The next drive ends quickly again for Portland, setting up another drive before the half for Kansas City. This drive, again, ends in a touchdown pass from Fujiwara. This time he finds Watson for a 27 yard touchdown. The last drive doesn’t bring anything in for the Pythons, half time standing is 17-7.
The first drive of the second half ends in a playoff record setting 72 yard punt from Matty McDairmid. The first play of the next Portland drive is a big one. O’Donnell completes a pass to Snyder, who makes a big gain, rushing for the endzone. But Fawn Dillmiballs closes the gap and tackles him, with forcing a fumble. Sweets recovers the fumble and the Coyotes get their next touchdown of the game, finishing the drive with a 1 yard touchdown run from Nova. Not much is clicking for the Pythons the rest of the game and the Coyotes start the beginning of the 4th quarter with another touchdown. This time it is Fakon rushing for the points.
The game ends with 31-7 for the home team, the Kansas City Coyotes.
4) OL or K/P Appreciation
After reading the game review of the Kansas City championship game, it is not hard to see were this appreciation post is going too. The new record holder for the longest punt in DSFL history, Matty McDairmid. This guy is hardest working kicker you’ll find not only in this draft class, you won’t find another one like him in a while. With him it is easy to say kicker or punter are people too. They are not only people that do matter, they are the ones who change the outcome on the field. In the championship game, Matty scored all scoring chances he got. Making a Field Goal and converting 4 extra points. He is a kicker like you want to have on your team. The whole season he was “just” the Punter, as Lefty Louis was the Kicker through regular season. With his attitude and hard work, he gained the starting position at kicker too when playoffs arrived. Now it is time for him to show his worth and build himself a memory for the Coyotes.
As a Punter, he set a new record in the DSFL for the longest punt in playoff history. He did that at the start of the second quarter, with the team leading 17-7. He punted the ball 72 yard long, leaving the Pythons not much of an option to return. The next play they fumbled the ball, setting up another touchdown for the Coyotes.
If Matty plays another amazing game like that, it will be hard for anyone to be successful against his team. Whether it is at home or on the road, the odds are good his team comes out as the winner of the game.
9) Dynasty
After some years of draught, a new pair of GMs took over in Kansas City and took over the city in storm. Starboy was already GM last year, when the Coyotes made the playoffs with a 5-9 record building the stock for a new dawn in franchise history. At the end of last season, Butters joined him and they build the new GM pair. After the biggest draft in league history, the Coyotes can look back on a solid roster and somethin to build up all over the season. With send downs at Quarterback, Running Back and Tight End, they already had some solid weapons going into the season on offense. They added a power back and the best receiving core in the entire league to their roster. On defense, DE and S were the most prominent send downs. They added the highest earner in Phat Boi at DT and many other important pieces in the defensive puzzle. As the season progressed, the whole league could see what the GMs of KCC did, they built up a team fighting for the top seed in the league and compete for the Ultimini.
This pair brought the spirit of winning back to the Coyotes and built an amazing locker room atmosphere. All parts of the team contribute and share their passion.
With the expansion draft in the NSFL, some surprising changes must be made in the offseason. Fujiwara, the QB, will be promoted to the NSFL, therefore they must find a heir for this important position. Tree Gelbman, second year TE, will also be promoted, so a big target will be another piece to add in the draft. The WR position will be something to look at, as it is unclear who will be sent down. But there are many good earners behind the top two options. On Defense the team seems to be set quite good, some additions at the line and secondary will be needed though, as there will be call ups and first year starters in the NSFL.
But if we learned something, the GM know what to do in the draft, so there will be another couple of interesting seasons rising up over in Kansas City.
18) Awards Season
This year, the Kansas City Coyote star Quarterback, anime girl Chika Fujiwara, is the front runner for season Most Valuable Player. In her last year in the DSFL, she put her game to the next level. Leading the league in QBR, completion percentage and touchdown to interception ratio, she made a strong pedigree for her vote. She finished second in passing yards, with over 70 attempts less than O’Donnell, who merely got more than her with leading the league with 70 yards more. Chika, built to be a Gunslinger, is far away to be a called a running quarterback. But she leads the league in rushing yards for quarterbacks in gaining 137 yards. Not just that, she also rushed for one TD. Chika lead her team to the top seed in the NFC North, finishing at 9-5.
Her QBR of 81.8 shows how good she really played. The DSFL is a run heavy league and QBs normally make tons of mistakes. Her rating shows, that she didn’t only minimize errors, she played really good football and took care of the ball extremely well. She has a TD to INT ratio of 2:1, that is a value some of the top QBs wish for. The completion rate of almost 60% shows the accuracy she puts into her game, this stat will excel the next years even further. But we don’t care about next season, this season is the MVP season for Chika Fujiwara. Stop to overemphasize the RBs, this year a QB takes over as league MVP. CHIKA, CHIKA, CHIKA!
