Task 11: Rivalry
If I had to pick any player in the DSFL as a rival, I think it would have to be Garfield Despacito Jr. @Gwdjohnson as he's easily the individual I most want to duel in ritual combat. Not only are we both wide receivers and (at this time) teammates on the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers, but we actually have encountered each other several times during summer workouts, where we would frequently compete to see who could lift the most (me) or squat the most (me again) or even run the fastest (still me). He ended up getting really frustrated by this and we got into a fistfight in a Wendy's parking lot, and that bitch made me drop my baconator. Needless to say, I have hated this guy ever since, even though we're now teammates. Pending the results of the DSFL draft, should I end up back in Myrtle Beach, I would see it as my singular goal to steal Garfield's spot in the lineup and show him what real wide receivers can do. He may complain and say things like "I have more experience" or "dude you kicked my Frosty out of my hands first" but he's a snake and a liar and I can't wait to make him look like the chump he is.
Task 13: Interview a star
For this task, I decided to interview someone who's had a very big day - Prince Vegeta aka @jeffie 43. Fresh off of being named the Co-GM of the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers and then immediately winning the Ultimini hours later, Vegeta was kind enough to answer some of my questions and give me some insights and perspectives about what it takes to become a pro football player and succeed.
Q: What do you think was the biggest factor in the Myrtle Beach Buccaneer's Ultimini victory this season?
I think the biggest factor in the Ultimini victory this season was the QB and someone I gave a ton of shit for for last season, Chris Ramos. I'll be honest I was a terrible teammate last season and gave him a lot of shit for some lackluster performances over the season, including a horrendous performance in the Ultimini where he finished the game with a 24.6 QBR. However he was nothing short of incredible this season as he came back with a vengeance in the ultimini game and proved all of his doubters wrong.
Q: If you could give any single piece of advice to a new player starting his journey towards the NSFL, what would it be?
Feel free to reach out, we're all friendly folks out here and always willing to help people. Another important thing to remember is to always have an open mindset and remember that the DSFL is for fun, and to enjoy it while it lasts.
Q: What would you say is your management philosophy now that you're a Co-GM?
Run it back
Q: What is one thing that disappointed you this season and how do you plan to address it for next season?
A: As a player, I'm disappointed with how OCO's season ended and maybe the small things I could've done along the way to ensure that we would've won that game, missing 3 predictions as a 1oa pick isnt a good look and I plan on fixing that immediately. As a Co-GM I was disappointed with some of the stuff that was poorly handled by the previous GM and hope to try and fix that next season, making MB an even more dangerous team.
Task 16: Scouting Report
Heading into the DSFL draft, wide receiver prospect L'Carpetron Dookmarriot is turning some heads. The University of Oregon standout sophomore racked up insane numbers at the college level this season, and has his eyes set firmly on being a top selection at the DSFL and, eventually, the NSFL drafts. One of Dookmarriot's most famous attributes are his "magic hands," a reference to both his uncanny ability to pick a ball out of the air against all odds and the fact that he was an amateur magician in his late teens when he wasn't on the field. In addition, his speed and agility allow him to juke tackles and evade the defense, and he's perfectly capable of beating a defender clean from a standstill. This combination made him a deadly target for Oregon's quarterback and drew the attention of many defensive coordinators over the course of the season. Perhaps Dookmarriot's greatest quality is his ability to rise to the occasion and come up big when his team needs it most. He describes himself as a "performer" and he never shies away from the opportunity to be the star of the show. He brings a high skill game at an impact position, and all of football will be following the young star closely for years to come.
