(This post was last modified: 04-10-2020, 12:19 AM by thevoicelesscreator.)
Free agency and the expansion draft is going to change a lot in the coming few days. But, if we were to ignore that, this is how the draft might play out.
#1 AUS (From HON): Colt Mendoza (CB), iStegosauruz
Perhaps the worst kept secret in the league coming into the S22 NSFL Draft, Austin will be taking Colt Mendoza (and more importantly the mastermind behind him, iStegosauruz).
#2 NOLA (From SAR): Magnus Rikiya (DT), Tesla
Sources within the New Orleans organization tell me that management is in love with Tesla, and traded up to make her a part of the New Orleans organization. They are hopeful that mentorship from Bex (Marcella T?riki) will augment her already incredible knowledge base, and that the two can make a strong pairing.
#3 PHI: Tyler Oles Jr. (CB), To12143
The Liberty need another starting CB after TubbyTim retired to recreate as an OL for them. While a controversial user as of late, no one can argue with Oles bank account (200M+). A max earner and a very active player, Oles will make an immediate impact on a team which needs some help
#4 ARI: Troen Egghands (DE), Troen
Arizona needs defensive ends something fierce. Coming into the draft (if they don’t sign one in FA), Arizona will have 0 defensive ends in their entire organization. They could potentially have one of their DSFL DT’s swap over, but that’s speculative. Troen is a great pick with a safe bank account (over 70m at the time of writing) and a max earner, which translates to a very good player.
#5 SJS: Brandon Booker (CB), Momento Mori
San Jose need help in the secondary really badly. After taking HeHatesMe PickSix last year, they look to finish off the CB renovations with Mori. Mori has shown to be a max earner through the season. A grader as well, Mori will have some guaranteed money, and is a very safe pick.
#6 PHI (From CHI): Johnny Hellzapoppin (S), Colabear
Sources tell me that both of the Liberty’s IA safeties will be left unprotected in the coming expansion draft. Which means they will be looking to replace them. They’re going to grab Johnny Hellzapoppin to help with that. Johnny can be a day 1 starter, which is essential for them. Colabear is a streamer, which means he does have a PT pass. That is simply too good to pass up
#7 HON (From AUS): Phat Boi (DT), BadLck
The TPE king of this draft will be going home. Honolulu love Phat Boi, and Phat Boi loves Honolulu. The perfect fit for both the player and the team. Raven and Dwyer will be ecstatic to see him drop to them.
#8 COL: Thubba Bumper (CB), baueranthony9
This pick should surprise nobody. Bauer was Woelker’s Co-GM during their DSFL days, and has every intention of joining his friend on the Yeti (albeit as a player).
#9 BAL: Chester Sweets (CB), revuhlution
Baltimore are losing their two starting CB’s to retirement, and need to replace them ASAP. Revuhlution is something that many GM’s are sweet on. An all-around stand-up guy, Sweets is also a very high earner, and someone Baltimore can lean on moving forwards
#10 OCO: Stanis?aw Koniecpolski (LB), Majesiu
Majesiu is a name that is well known to Sim Veterans. The current Commissioner of the PBE, and long time NSFL patriot, Majesiu’s last player was an Otter icon. As they are currently with 3 IA linebackers starting for them, they will be delighted to add this legend back to the locker room.
#11 YKW: Matt "Son of Havoc" Cross (S), J0EB
The Wraiths are in desperate need of a pair of elite safetys this draft. They’ll start it by taking Matt Cross, who is the highest earning safety this season. There is some concern as to financials, but the Wraiths need a starter, and Cross fits that perfectly.
#12 NOLA: Ben Slothlisberger (QB), slothfacekilla
The New Orleans team management team is no stranger to Mr. Slothfacekilla. His last player was 1000+ TPE linebacker, Johnny Slothface. It’ll be no surprise to see that they will not risk the evident future of their franchise, and pick him up here.
#13 HON: Derred De Ville (LB), Exilizer
Honolulu will be looking to add leaders to their team. Players that can be the core to their team, produce, even when the team around them is struggling. De Ville is that guy, and I think Honolulu have a keeper here.
#14 SAR: Octavio Clemente (DT), Billybolo53
With the first draft pick in their inaugural history, the Sarasota Sailfish will play it safe, taking defensive tackle Octavio Clemente. GM Frost and Clemente have history (Myrtle Beach alum), and have had proven success together. Look for them to translated that at the NSFL level
#15 ARI (from PHI): James Cho (DE), cho1325
Like I said, DE is a very big need for the Arizona. They have back to backs here, and the most picks in the draft for depth. They’ll takes another day one starter in James Cho here.
#16 ARI: Quinn Hughes (S), Isidore94
Immensely popular amongst scouts, Arizona will feel like they got a steal here at 16 with Hughes. He will bolster their struggling secondary and be another day 1 starter.
#17 SJS: Monterey “Monty” Jack (QB), Rradum
This is their GM and their future. No need to comment further
#18 PHI (from CHI): Haha Mango-Panda (LB), furiousPanda
One of the more active linebackers in the locker room, Panda’s dedication to being a great person has not been overlooked. A very high earner, he will be another key addition to the revitalized secondary.
#19 AUS: White Goodman (RB), gucci
Austin have been looking to replace Ludicolo Bigby for a bit of time now, and gucci is the guy for that. Reliable, and most certainly a locker room guy – he would bring a ton to the team. Any other draft and he would be first round
#20 COL: Acura Skyline (RB), Skyline
Rick Ruff is on his way to regression town, and Colorado will need to find his replacement. With gucci coming off the board, and OCO needing a running back as well, Colorado will take their man in Acura Skyline.
#21 CHI (from BAL): Benson Bayley Jr. (LB), BayleyIsland
This is their GM, as well as a positional need.
#22 OCO: Kichwa Jones (RB), howsour
The Yeti taking RB really catches OCO off guard, and unfortunately, they are left having to pick Jones as their RB1 of the future. Fortunately, Jones is a very good running back, and will play a key part in their dual threat game with his 94 speed.
#23 YKW: Colby Jack (QB), flyeaglesfly29
This is their GM, as well as their future.
#24 NOLA: Wesley Eriksen (S), Lightnoir
NOLA need a safety this year, and Eriksen is their man. An insanely hard worker, Eriksen will be someone who will find themselves in the NOLA War Room, one way or another.
#25 HON: Jeffrey Phillips (TE), DrunkenTeddy
It’s insane to think that the second highest TPE earner of this class falls to 25th, but the needs of teams just aren’t at TE. Honolulu will make a good home for Teddy. Raven and Dwyer will be ecstatic with the value they have gotten here.
#26 SAR: Trade with YKW (S22 3rd Round, S23 3rd round) – YKW: Mo “Mamba” Magic (DT), thevoicelesscreator
We have our first trade! I think that YKW will trade up in the third to take me if I am still available. The cost isn’t too high, and Sarasota will gladly take the opportunity to cash in on some future draft picks. There is concern with Baltimore taking me in the third, and it is rumoured that Colorado are very interested in me, so Yellowknife play it safe and make a move here.
#27 BAL (from PHI): Lawrence Bass (LB), RussDrivesTheBuss
Baltimore are going to need linebackers – the sooner the better. Not only is Bass the best linebacker on the board, he will also be joining his former GM DeWalt, who will no doubt have been talking up this guy to the team for the last little bit now.
#28 ARI: Heath Evans (TE), Feeler
The Outlaw will be looking for a replacement to the aging Jammerson Irving. With Phillips going off the board to Honolulu, and Sarasota potentially taking one as well, Arizona will secure the position by grabbing Evans.
#29 SJS: Buck Thornton (S), FurFurFurson
The Sabercats have had an excellent draft so far, staying within their targets and not reaching for anything they don’t need. They continue that trend here grabbing Buck Thornton to continue to shore up that secondary.
#30 PHI (from CHI): Eldrick Avery (CB), RansackTheUniverse
Philly is going to need a couple CB’s this draft. So why not grab Avery while he is available and one of the best players on the board. Makes sense, and it’s a need. Lock it in
#31 HON (from AUS): William Lim (WR), yonggarius
It says a lot about the talent in this draft that the highest TPE WR slides down to 31. Horvo will need targets, and Lim should be able to keep up with the best. Excellent value at 31
#32 COL: Fawn Dillmiballs (LB), enforcer
Several teams have Dillmiballs high on their draft board, so the fact that he slides to 32 for Colorado is really a major blessing. He will do great work for the Yeti who have a hole at LB3 and an aging secondary to be concerned about.
#33 BAL: Andrew Witten (CB), mithrandir
Another CB might seem excessive for Baltimore, but they do need it. Witten’s heavy bank account make him favorable over other prospects on the board, and Baltimore will be happy with this pick
#34 OCO: Deshun Jones (DT), Forty Jordy
If you think 34 is an insane place for Jones to slide to, you’d be right. The need is there for OCO, and Jordy will make an excellent partner to Rapid Eagle.
#35 YKW: Traded with SAR: Zamir Kehla (CB), retrospace111
See Pick 26 for trade details.
Perhaps the most controversial player in this draft, Kehla has hurt his stock quite a bit with his off the field antics. However, at 35, the value is just too great to pass up for a team looking to build talent.
#36 NOLA: Michael Witheblock (WR), sakrosankt
The reigning champs are looking for a WR 3 to bolster their team. And to get Witheblock at 36 is down-right larceny.
#37 HON: Tatsu Nakamura (RB), qWest
Honolulu will be looking to add a running back to help take some of the load from Corvo. The pick comes at a good time, and at a very good value point.
#38 SAR: Sandro Ryeu (DE), s4ndr0p
Pure value pick here. No way he should be here at 38, but here he is and SAR will take him
#39 ARI (from PHI): Byron Dolls (OL), Symmetrik
See pick #40
#40 ARI: Calvin Golladay (OL), CalvinGolladay
Now, there may be some questions as to why Arizona would ever go double OL in this situation. My answer? Why not? They have the picks to do something like this and not feel like they’re missing other key targets. And if you look at the players they get – both are outstanding teammates, and will add a ton to Arizona.
#41 SJS: Thomas Passmann (WR), StamkosFan
A long time sim veteran, San Jose will no doubt be enthused to add his Passmann’s experience to their young locker room. Great fit for the team to fill the need at WR.
#42 AUS (from CHI): Eddie Jeeta (WR), QuirkyTurtle
Jeeta has taken a plummet from draft boards in the last couple of weeks leading up to the draft, as prospects improve around him. Austin stop the fall at 42 and pick up a great option receiver
#43 AUS: Trade with BAL (S22 Round 4, S23 Round 6) – William Alexander (WR), morsy
After seeing two WR go off the board ahead of them, and knowing the Colorado could possibly go WR as well will prompt Baltimore to trade up and grab William Alexander. Morsy will be familiar to DeWalt, who was his DSFL GM, and will likely advocate for this pick.
#44 COL: Nick Kaepercolin (WR), Highhaschdi
Nerves must have been flying to see Baltimore trade ahead of them, but Colorado will be thrilled to still be able to get their guy in Nick Kaepercolin. With a very sizable bank account (22M+), Kaepercolin is the safest pick of wide receivers available.
#45 BAL: Trade with AUS - Matthew McDairmid (Kicker/Punter), matty7478
See pick 43 for trade info
With Alfredo Crisco headed into his 8th season, regression is going to hit the kicker really hard. McDairmid is the best kicker in the draft, and while a bit early, Austin should see no reason not to take him here.
#46 OCO: Bruce Buckley (OL), NicholasTheGreat
The Otters have a team that is good enough where they can afford to take an OL here. Buckley is also a very good player. Great value here.
#47 YKW: Susan Cash. Jr (WR), 2Burkeulosis
Losing Rayne hurts but the Wraiths do have WR3 ready to step up. That being said, they will still need a replacement at WR 3
#48 NOLA: Ben Stackinpaper (CB), benstackinpaper
New Orleans left several talented CB’s open to be taken during the expansion draft. Expect them to look to add some talent back at the right time. Stackinpaper at 48 feels really good here.
#49 HON: Cadillac Harris (CB), tractorcito_grande
Every team has a dynamic cornerback, and Honolulu will find theirs here. Harris has the skills to compete, and his drive will be a great addition to the Honolulu locker room
#50 SAR: Eric Barlow (S), Thiath
Safety is a position that Sarasota will need to address, and they choose to do it sooner than later. Barlow is a great player, very active in the locker room, and has a hefty bank account to prove it. He will be a great addition to Sarasota
#51 ARI (from PHI): George “Corpse Grinder” Fisher (LB), AL_GRINGO
Great value pick up at this position. Arizona needs a linebacker this draft and the pool is running rather thin, so they grab Fisher here.
#52 ARI: Tommy Sacamano (OL), TommyThaMan
Now I know what you’re thinking – is Arizona really taking 3 OL this draft? And the answer is yes. What else are they going to do with so many draft picks? OL is a luxury position, and Arizona find themselves in a place of luxury with this many picks.
#53 SJS: Jamar Lackson (RB), BenDover
San Jose are looking to complement their running game with another back, and Lackson fits the bill. At 53, he is a very high value pick.
#54 ARI (from CHI): Trade with CHI (S23 5th round) – Jim Waters (QB), siddhus
Arizona have an overabundance in picks this year. A very good thing to have. Chicago aren’t likely to be very good next year, so picking up their S23 5th makes sense, rather than picking a player with no place for them within the team.
Chicago on the other hand, are hurting for picks in this draft. They need a quarterback with Rose retiring at the end of the next season. For a franchise with so much turmoil, Waters is the safest pick at the QB position, in spite of his past. A proven earner, a grader, and an overall decent locker room guy, Waters is the future for Chicago.
#55 HON (from AUS): Patrick Money (DE), PMoney
To get Patrick Money at 55 is a big steal. Great locker room guy, and someone who can be a key part of the pass rush and run stop. Great pick
#56 PHI (from COL): Big Edd (DT), Big Edd
Although DT is a need for Philly, I’ve been told that it isn’t a priority. With the rest of their needs taken care of, they look to fill that gap in the middle and take Big Edd. At 56, this an excellent value pick for them.
#57 BAL: Shawn Dawkins (S), Number 82
Baltimore are looking for some depth at safety, which is insane to say for someone like Dawkins. But there is a high ceiling there, and Baltimore will be happy to pick him up here.
#58 OCO: Luke Skywalker (QB), muse316
The QB rush is on! Luke Skywalker is the next QB off the board. The Otters will be looking for a project quarterback, and Skywalker will be that guy. The mentorship from Franklin with no doubt be invaluable.
#59 YKW: Sebastian Vettel (S), Phalanx32
Yellowknife need another safety, and Vettel could very well be that guy. Phalanx and CLG have some history from the DSFL (CLG is the Co-GM), so they have a good feel for who they’ll be getting at 59
#60 SAR (from NOLA): Tom Sofa (QB), NamelessNate
Sarasota still need a quarterback, and after getting beat out to Waters and Skywalker, they will take Sofa. Not the most confident of picks, Sofa will be the QB that Sarasota will have under center for their first few years. Whether he will be the quarterback that takes them to glory is up for question.
