9) The London Royals are poised to be the next dynasty of the DSFL. While expectations were low for the expansion franchise this season, the team surprised all the analyst by winning five games and being competitive in most of the others. This overachieving mindset was developed by the great leadership from the front office down to the captions that was exhibited in the locker room each day. Modern Duke and Deadly Player have built a program in one season aided by top linebacker prospect Derred De Ville and big play running back Acura Skyline and now the future generation of Royals just need to follow the template put in place. This template resulted in London players repeatedly leading the league in TPE gained showing more improvement than any other team in the league. More important than the physical gains was the positive environment that the whole team contributed to and fed off. During wins the locker room was super hyped and even in defeat, getting better and lifting each other up was the only concern. There is no doubt in my mind that this team will continue to improve next season and with the possibility of some Royals returning to the DSFL next season, the championship may be closer than anyone has expected.
16) Acura Skyline from the London Royals is one of the most talented running backs available in the NSFL draft this season. After leading the DSFL in rushing yards with 1761 and carries with 349, Skyline has proved that he has what it takes to be a workhorse back at the next level. He finished the season with 10 rushing touchdowns and showed his big play ability with multiple 70+ yard runs including the longest run of any player during this past season (87 yards). Skyline also showed his catching ability pulling in 10 receptions averaging 7.9 yards per catch. Physically he has all the tools you need with a rare mix of speed (91) and strength (64) that allowed him to break tackles and be the most explosive player at the DSFL level last season. Acura Skyline is also a great locker room presence. He was quickly named the offensive captain for the expansion Royals, a position the carried even more weight considering he was the first and needed to set the example for future Royals. Not only did he talk it, he put the team on his back multiple time scoring two game ending overtime rushing touchdowns. Despite the lack of demand for running backs in this draft, I expect Skyline to be picked by the third round based on his incredible talent.
17) “I have always been more than just an athlete,” Stackinpaper said when asked about being the face of Goldman Sachs Group, Inc’s new financial adversary program for everyday people. “Goldman Sachs wants to bring their world renown investing platforms to the everyday person and they trust that I can help them deliver that result.” Despite only playing three seasons for the University of Miami, Stackinpaper earned his degree in that time in business administration with a focus on corporate finance. As a junior he stared on the football team earning All-ACC honors and he stared in the classroom being named president of the Hurricane Investment Group, a student run equity fund responsible for over ten million dollars in capital. The marketing department conceived the idea of using Stackinpaper as a spokesperson after meeting him during a sophomore internship at their New York office. Stackinpaper had not exploded on the field yet but as savvy investors they laid the groundwork for a future partnership. The Stackinpaper effect is starting to trickle into the next generation of college athletes with their degree paths. Communications majors are down 75% since the London Royal defensive back earned his degree with an increase in 40% in business majors and even a 10% increase in athletes choosing STEM majors. “I want to bring being intelligent cool again,” Stackinpaper said, “There is no reason for anyone at any age not to be smart with their money.”
18) The best defensive player in the DSFL for the S21 season is with no doubt linebacker Derred de Ville from the London Royals. In the locker room he was the defensive captain for the expansion franchise, but on the field the best all around player in the league. He finished the season with 147 tackles which was tied for 2nd and had more forced fumbles (2) and fumble recoveries (2) than any of the players in the top seven in tackles. Derred de Ville was also second in the league in sacks getting to quarterbacks nine times this past season. The Royal field general added an interception and eight passes defensed in what should be an award-winning season. General managers at the next level seem to believe it as well and there is talk that Derred de Ville may be the first linebacker off the board in this upcoming draft. Lawrence Bass who is in contention for the award does not have the sacks or takeaways the de Ville does. Benson Bayley Jr. did not make the tackles or force enough turnovers to win the award and while Zamir Kehla is a strong candidate with his five interceptions and ten passes defensed, but ultimately he finishes second to de Ville for Defensive Player of the Year for the S21 DSFL season.
