Interview with Jaylen Storm (@Daybe)
1. When you made the jump to the NSFL, how different was that from playing in the DSFL?
“I think the biggest difference was the competitiveness. Obviously the #1 goal of the DSFL is to develop players and set them up for future success, but when you get to the NSFL, it's the real deal. You're definitely overmatched at the start of your career and it was something I had to get used to.”
2. Do you ever find the history of the Otters franchise to be overwhelming? You walk in the halls of legends. You’re forever linked with some of the greatest players in league history. Do you block out that noise, or do you embrace it?
“Yeah, I think the GMs have definitely done a great job of setting a standard of excellence. It was one of the reasons why I came there in the first place, cause I knew the GMs had a reputation of success. Every time I come to work, I'm reminded of those who came before me, and it inspires me to play hard every day.”
3. Who is your favorite teammate (past or present) and why?
“My favorite teammate has to be Nero Alexander, man. He was a total captain in the locker room, he would stick up for his guys and do the right thing. He always gave 110% on the field and was one of the most active guys I knew.”
4. What is your personal goal heading into the next season?
“I want to help all the youngsters get to develop in Honolulu. I also want to get a pretty sick tan, from sitting on all of those Hawaiian beaches all day long.”
