Task 6 – Next Year – With the S21 Ultimus over, the Austin Copperheads are officially no longer the champions of the NSFL. But, fret not Austin fans, the Copperheads find themselves in a VERY good position to reclaim their title in S22. Why you ask? Well, Austin is primed to not lose very much in the expansion draft. We only lost a WR, a CB, and a regression Safety in Chase Jensen. Yeah, it won’t be great to lose Jacoby Clay or Victor Moreno, but they aren’t as big of losses as others may have been. With that, the Copperheads are going into S22 with a lot of key player hitting their peaks, most notably incredibly handsome QB Easton Cole, and star RB Mako Mendonca. Net Gaines and Rod Tidwell combine to form an incredible WR duo, and TE Peter Larson has been a very reliable player his whole career. Austin needs one more piece to really make this one hell of a dynamic offense. The Defense continues to get better and better as well, with star CB Dermot Lavelle Jr, S Awkward Sexjoke, and DE Kyle Idelwyld leading a tough Copperhead D. The team is truly hitting its peak, and if it can acquire another player or two, they should be primed for a championship run. (212)
Task 11 – Rivalry – I’ve said it before. The main rivals for the Austin Copperheads are the New Orleans Second Line. Austin got it’s first win in its history over New Orleans, before the Second Line complained and the HO decision of a resim was overturned, taking the victory away. In Season 20, Austin went 3-0 against New Orleans, including a playoff win en route to the S20 Ultimus championship. In S21, New Orleans returned the favor going 3-0 against the Copperheads en route to the S21 Ultimus Championship, which included a hard fought 23 – 17 win for NOLA in the playoffs. The hardest part about being in the ASFC of course, is that both teams compare themselves to the Orange County Otters the most, as they’ve been the standard bearer in the league for pretty much its entire existence. Austin and New Orleans both may consider Orange County their rivals at times, but ever since Austin joined the league, there has been a bit of a nastiness to the NOLA – AUS rivalry that OCO just doesn’t have with either of them. With both teams having the goal of dethroning Orange County for a while now, it’s caused them both to have a better rivalry with the same goal in mind. One that BOTH teams have now achieved in consecutive season: Beat Orange County and win the Ultimus. Even with that as the goal, they’ll have to kill each other to do it first. (240)
Task 12 – Pay It Forward – This is going to be the hardest task for me to do, because there are SO MANY people I can talk about. Obviously there’s @AdamS , but I’ve said so many good things about that guy on my podcasts. There’s @bex of course, with whom I’ve developed a great friendship with. Same goes for @SDCore . But for this, I’m going to talk about @Laser . Our friendship is still relatively new and blossoming. We kind of knew each other from NSFL Werewolf. When he asked me to be his Co-GM in the PBE is when things really took off. Laser is just an extremely good person and he’s lovely to talk to. He was the first person to reach out to me when he heard about my Grandmother passing away. Like, if you don’t know how good of a guy he is yet, you need to start messaging him ASAP. He really cares about his teams and his players. He’s been so busy in real life but he’s been finding the time to scouting this immaculate NSFL Draft class AND help me build an expansion team in the PBE. He does it all. There’s even more awesome things about him that I’m still finding out about. I’m very lucky to call this person my friend. (217)
Task 20 – Nostalgia – The fun part about being on a sim site for about 3 real life years now is that I’ve experienced SO MANY ups and downs here. I’ve won the S9 MVP, which is hard to do as a WR. Each Ultimus win with OCO in S12 and S13 was awesome. The S20 season, and winning with the team I helped build in Austin was so cool. But I think the greatest part of my time on the NSFL was going all of the way back to S5. I’ll never forget my first NSFL Draft night. The Colorado Yeti selected me first overall with Carlito Crush. I had only been in sim leagues for a bit at that time, but my name was starting to get recognized by the community. I won’t lie, I always want to be the best with any character I create. I enjoy doing this and getting recognized for being a good player. But, my natural social anxieties would kick in and I never really knew what people thought of me. That changed when Colorado selected me to be the face of the franchise. Granted, extreme mismanagement ruined all of that, but I still remember getting drafted. I was on my way to my hockey game, and in the parking lot, I jumped into the draft streams discord and got interviewed. It was so much fun, and I was just over the moon. It felt like all of the hard work I was putting in truly meant something. It validated me in some weird way, and I’ll never forget it. (263)
