19) Team Culture
Written: What is it about your team’s culture and/or locker room that makes you happy to be there? If there are any problems, what do you think should be done to improve them?
The Dallas Birddogs are a new team in the DSFL, finishing their inaugural season with a 5-9 record. From the start and despite a few tough losses, the locker room remained an intensely positive place to be. Veterans and rookies alike all helping each other out, helping each of us be the best we can be. Everyone was treated as equals and everyone had their time to be celebrated.
There was a constant push to be better, to learn, to practice and to win but without sacrificing team spirit. After all, there's no point winning a few extra games if no one wants to be there anymore. The team management lead this positivity from pre-draft, making rookies feel part of a team that didn't even exist yet, right through to the closing moments of the season.
There was no such thing as a 'stupid question' in the Dallas Birddogs locker room, only an opportunity to share what you knew with someone who maybe hadn't experience that yet. I know I never felt I couldn't ask questions and, when I gave it, I always felt my thoughts and opinions were listened to.
These aspects of comradery and sportsmanship will be what propel the Birddogs to great things in the coming seasons. I have no doubt about that. They will be the team players want to be drafted by.
