4) OL or K/P Appreciation
So I want to focus on the play of the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers offensive line as a whole and specifically on Douglas Quail, the reigning Offensive Lineman of the year in the DSFL. I am focusing on the Ultimini game in particular The offensive line as a whole had only 3 penalty for 40 yards and with zero sacks allowed. They also had 11 pancakes between them. Tee team as a whole did an incredible job blocking with a total 19 pancakes, e of those coming from the tight ends, the little brothers on the offensive line. QUail led the way for them however, with zero penalties, five pancakes and no sacks allowed. The biggest reason I am highlighting this group in this game is that they paved the way for Chris Ramos to have the game of his life on their way to a championship. Not only did he go 12/20 for a hundred and seventy three yards, a touchdown and a rating of 104.8 but he had an incredible 75 rushing yard on EIGHT attempts, good for an average 9.4 yards per carry. None of this would have been possible without the big boys up front with Douglas Quail leading the way.
6) Next Year
Well the Orange County Otters were on the doorstep of yet another Ultimus championship before barely losing to the future champions, the New Orleans Secondline, in overtime of the conference championship. Between retirement, the expansion draft and regression New Orleans is losing a LOT of their talent while Orange County is a younger team that will just be getting better and better as the season goes on. We didn't lose nearly as much as some teams in the expansion draft, regression isn't hitting us that hard and we will be filling the few holes we have in order to field a complete squad and bring that ninth trophy back home to Orange County. We have five players hitting their first year of regression, Franklin Armstrong, Lanzer Grievous, AJ Lattimer, Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname and Ludicolo Bigby but the first three will still be elite players, Alex D will be a more than serviceable kicker as will Bigby at running back. To add to that we have an elite season 16 player in Hugh Mongo, two fantastic season 18 players in Tyrone Biggums and Korrin Abernathy, yours ruly Kacey Dram as a studly season 19 cornerback plus Bobby Boucher at defensive end in season 20. Throw in the three amazing season 21 players we have with the one and only Prince Vegeta, Rapid Eagle and Remon Kuristo and we are stocked to bring home that championship we missed out on this season.
9) Dynasty
Well before I get into anything else I'm going to point out the obvious here: we're already a dynasty. The Orange County Otters might not have won the last two Ultimus championships but we won the three before that, we've NEVER missed the playoffs, we've only ever missed one conference championship and we have eight Ultimus trophies to our name. We are in fact the only franchise in the entire league that is deserving of the moniker of Dynasty. To piggyback off of my previous comments about next year we have been undergoing an infusion of youth to go with the insane amount of talent we already have on our team. In a period of time in the league where quarterbacks rule we have by far the best secondary in the league. Franklin Armstrong is about to win yet another Most Valuable Player award and while he might be hitting regression he is still easily the best quarterback in the league (Sorry Havran). We are bringing back almost all of the pieces of the best defense in the league next season and with the draft talent we are hoping to bring in our front seven will get a boost and our defense will be even scarier. This is a team that is built to last while our biggest challengers are going to fade in a season or two. The evil empire is here to stay people.
19) Team Culture
There are so many things about the Orange County Otters that make it a fantastic place to play and just an amazing locker room in general. I can sincerely say that it is the greatest team culture in the league. It's a very mature atmosphere, it's not memey or shitposty like a lot of locker rooms are. The people are very chill, sometimes we will watch movies or a stream of someone playing a game. The management is easily the best in the league. The level of organization they have is unparalleled. As a member of their war room I see that their scouting and their sim testing is on a whole different level compared to anything else I have seen. I am a pretty good tester and they blow me out of the water, it's a truly humbling thing to witness. On top of that they have a tremendous amount of respect for their players as they are constantly interacting with us, seeing how we are feeling and if there is anything we need. There are so many great alumni in there that have been very involved with the team and league for an extremely long time. They have fantastic build advice, they do this great rookie interview so that the new guys can get some money coming in right away. I really love it there and am very grateful that I was drafted by them
