18) Mo Berry should be the NSFL MVP. He anchored one of the best defenses in the league while also leading the league in sacks. Berry also led the league in forced fumbles/fumble recoveries. His 12 pass defenses rank 5th among linebackers. While Havran and Armstrong were phenomenal this season, the league is tired of QBs winning MVP and there needs to be a change. Mo Berry has story line and the support of S15 behind him. He should win MVP this season if just to appease the MoVP crowd. The Colorado Yeti are tired of being a laughingstock and Mo Berry played like someone who was fed up as well. And while playoff performance shouldn't factor into MVP voting, it's worth noting that Berry put up 6 pass defenses and a sack in the Yeti's first round loss to the eventual ASFC champions, the Yellowknife Wraiths. The Yeti's defense ranked 4th in the league, but without Berry they would most likely have ranked towards the bottom of the league. He finished with more pass defenses than both of the Yeti's starting cornerbacks and accounted for nearly a third of the teams total sacks. Berry put the Yeti on his back and there is definitely a case for him to be MVP, an even greater case could be made in a year that didn't have 2 historic QB performances.
16) Tychondrius Hood Scouting Report:
PROS
Shows prototypical size for a wide receiver. Breakaway speed, often took slant routes the distance for Florida. Knows how to use his body to go up and get passes, despite not being too physical of a wide receiver. Coaches describe him as a good locker room presence, knows how to lead a team and is described as inspirational by teammates.
CONS
Questionable hands, dropped several catchable passes his final year at UF. Routes are often sloppy and can be slow to cut. Has world class speed but sometimes is afraid to really go all out. Effort sometimes a concern but rarely gives up on a play.
Tychondrius Hood is one of the most physically gifted prospects I've seen come out of the University of Florida in several years, if he can go to a team that is able to fix his technique issues and maximize his size and speed, he can be easily one of the best wide receivers in the NSFL. I can see his ceiling as a Vinny Valentine type guy if he can polish his routes and cut down on the drops.
Ceiling: 6-time pro bowl, 1 time WRoY
Floor: Peaks as a 3rd wide receiver, replaced within 2-3 seasons
17) Deonte Washington declared for the DSFL draft, giving up his amateur status. After winning the Biletnikoff award in his sophomore season at Northwestern, he signed his first endorsement deal with Nike. He starred in a Nike ad during the Ultimus alongside former pro bowlers safety Lamont McKinnie and WR Brock Landers. The ad centered around the 3 training in the offseason. It was a serious ad that was meant to demonstrate the performance capabilities of Nike cleats and athletic gear. Washington's Nike deal is one of the highest paying endorsements for a S23 rookie and his popularity in college helped sell several hundred thousand pairs of shoes. He also starred in a coke ad during the Ultimini with world famous rapper YNW BSlime. The ad featured them in a poorly animated cartoon world talking about coca cola and its properties. The ad was meant to target children as it was only aired on Disney XD alongside the Ultimini. It was railed on twitter but coca cola stock prices slightly rose after the Ultimini, as the wild commercial brought tons of publicity to coca cola. Deonte Washington is quickly becoming one of the most marketable young stars, as his goofy personality and talent on the football field brings him to quick fame.
12) Two of the many great personalities in this league are Swagsloth and PDXBaller. These two guys were my first main GMs in the DSFL and NSFL and I really look up to them. It means a lot to me that two real people wanted to be my teammate and help me out no matter how many stupid questions I ask them. They are both super kind to everyone and do a great job keeping locker rooms involved and active. I've never seen either of these guys be mean or toxic to anyone in this league and I don't think they have a mean bone between them. PDX somehow managed to keep an absolutely atrocious Palm Beach Solar Bears team active until the draft and then even more incredibly won an Ultimini with them just the next season. Swagsloth always made me feel included in AZ and all I've heard from them is kind words which really does go a long way in this league, especially at this time. I really hope that if I get another chance to be a GM that I can be half of the presence, friend, and leader that these 2 guys are. Thank you guys for your presence in the league, you really do make it a better place.
