Offensive Comparison: Compare one offensive player from each team in a series. Can be completed at any point
Today we`ll be comparing two offensive players from a serie that was played in the NSFL playoffs this season. We`ll be looking at the Otters versus Outlaws game. So let's look at the quarterbacks and what they ended up doing for their team. The Otters played Mike Boss and the Outlaws had selected Draxel as their QB. Boss went for 41 passes and was only able to convert 17 of those in a successful pass. Which is only a 41.6% success rate. Draxel had 33 passes and was able to deliver 19 of those with success. A Rate of 57.6% which was better than Boss's. Both were able to set up one touch down. Boss had a better average yard per throw with 11.2 average and 190 yards total. Draxel had 183 yards total which totaled to 9.6 average yards. Draxel was intercepted 0 times in the game and Boss threw 4 of them. Draxel had the better overall game while Boss did put up more yards. Boss had also been tackled in the first period which resulted in safety points for the Outlaws. I think Draxel's play was the rallying factor for the Outlaws success and win in this game.
Bottom Third: Write about why the Baltimore Hawks and/or San Jose Sabercats were not able to make the playoffs. Can be completed at any point
Baltimore's season can only be descriped as tragic. While going 4-0 in the preseason and thus having a successful start to their game. This start absolutely did not translate over to the regular season. It wasn't until the fourth week in which the Hawks were able to pick up their first victory. They ended up finishing the season with a 4-10 record. What was the factor in this bad season? Looking at the defense of the Hawks we see alot of holes and weak spots. They were the team that allowed the post points scored on them in the regular season. 39 points more than the Saberkitties. Offense wasn't that much of a problem as they posted a pretty solid record with 254 points for them. Which was 3rd best in the league. Showing that their inability to defense well was cancelling out their offensive potential. Looking at offense though we see that Baltimore did score the lowest amount of touchdowns in the season. So was this offensive success also thanks to superstar kickerman Turkleton? We`ll have to see how the draft influences the Hawks. They surely will be looking at adding pieces to their defense line and who knows if there will be any spicy trades coming during the offseason.
Playoff Series MVP: Choose an MVP for one of the playoff series and write about why you chose them. Must be completed after the playoff series you write about
My MVP of my chosen playoff series will be Adrienne Nugent. Who played the role of kicker in the Otters versus Outlaws series in the ASFC conference match up. Nugent played a big role in the dominant victory by the Outlaws. He was able to score all of the extra point oppurtunities he was presented with. He was also able to kick 2 field goals in without a problem. There was a 41 yarder field goal he missed, but that's not important. What is inportant is how with those 2 field goals and the 4 extra points the lad was able to get 10 points for his team. Pretty good numbers to contribute in he 36 to 13 win for the Outlaws. Kickers don't always get the respect they deserve, but I know better. Nugent is the thriving force with the Outlaws and his kicks motivate the squad to go for the best. Nugent's field goals were a 19 yarder and a 29 yarder. Not the toughest distances to beat, but in high pressure games, it shows he's able to keep his cool and finish his kicks without a problem. This is why I think Nugent is this playoff series MVP.
Playoff Review: Write a short review of the playoffs and each of the matchups. Must be completed after the Championship Game
This seasons conference finals were between the Orange County Otters and the Arizona Outlaws, the other final was between the Yellowknife Wraiths and the Colorado Yetis. This game was a battle of the kickers. The final score was 6-13, Booter kicked home 2 field goals recording the 6 points for his team. Bojo Kickshit also scored two fieldgoals aswell as an extra point. Plus the TD was the security for the Yeti's to come out of this game victorous.
The game between the Otters and Outlaws started off quiite evenly in the first two periods, until the Outlaws popped off at the end of the fourth period. A kickoff return, interception and return run all contributed to to a huge lead and Nugents kicks added to it.
The final was between the Yeti's and the Outalws. This game was never really a tight one, the outlaws took an early lead, then Bojo Kicksht tried to fighting back with two field goals, but were never able to tie or get a lead. The Outlaws took off after and just didnt let the Yeti's get back in the game. They took the game convincingly with a score of 29-6 and won the first ever cup.
