If I'm not mistaken, the way the sim regards speed is regardless of weight or height. So a 90 speed DT will be exactly as fast as a 90 speed CB. There might be some RNG, and slight differences with Agility affecting it but overall that's pretty much how it works. So having a DT at 100 speed is just very unrealistic and if you made a 100 speed 280 lb DT it would be way too overpowered.
Reading the forum in the sim they were having problems with people converting 90+ speed CBs into edge rushers and them just dominating. So the developer added weight as a factor so these tiny 170 lb CBs would just get crushed by a lineman. As it stands now in order to be effective in the sim as a pass rusher, according to the wolverine studios forums, you need to weigh around 265 lbs. This shows me that the developer created some kind of momentum factor that's a product of weight and speed. So if we uncapped the speed stat for DTs it would create an imbalanced player with a far too dominant momentum factor.
