Hello everyone,
I have a bittersweet announcement: I will be stepping down from my position in HO effective on June 5th, 2020.
This has been a decision that has been weighing on me for a long time now. There was a time where it seemed that multiple instances of nonsense occurred repeatedly, nonstop. The constant stream of drama and BS that had gone on made me a more irritable person, less patient and sympathetic, and gradually took away my motivation. Although it has quieted down a bit this season, everything has already taken its toll. I had been warned that it would wear on me and that it would change my perspective on a lot of things in this league, so I knew what I was getting into and I was ready for it. I thought I could hang on a lot longer than this, but unforeseen changes in my real life and mental well-being have done their part as well to cut my tenure as a Head Office member short. I began to realize that my performance had taken a hit as a result, I didn't feel the same excitement and dedication towards this league that I once had, and with everything going on in my life I no longer have the capacity to bring my best to a position such as this that requires so much more than I have to offer at this point in time.
I came into this role with the sole goal of doing whatever I could to make this league better. I wanted to improve the new user experience, to improve how this league was run, and to bring a personality to HO that would help put them in a more positive light and make the head office a more approachable entity. I would like to think that I have succeeded to a certain point in doing so, but I wish I could have done more. I truly did do my best to be the best HO member I could possibly be. I'm confident that the next person that fills my shoes will bring that same energy that I once had, hopefully even more.
Before leaving, I'd like to thank every HO member that I worked with during my time both as an intern and as a full member of HO. You all showed me the ins & outs of how to run a great league and were all a source of inspiration during my tenure. I especially want to thank @bex for always believing in me and for giving me her full confidence even before I started my internship. She has been an inspiring leader, dedicated worker, and caring friend throughout my time in HO. Without her, I don't think I would have been able to stay on for as long as I have, and I fully trust her leadership as commissioner. Lastly, I'd like to thank the league as a whole for doing your best to stay positive even in the roughest of times, for your resilience during the big changes that have been happening as we grow, and for making this league the best damn sim league on the interwebs.
I will still be an active member of this league and will continue in my position as a Rookie Mentor - I still want to help the new members of this league and am excited to return my focus to the first job I had here.
Take care everyone - and please, wash your hands.
