7) Selflessness is one thing, but ultimately everyone wants to hear their own player’s name mentioned among the greats. Take some time, in 400 words or more, and discuss how your player’s (or past player’s) career is going so far. Are you matching any expectations you set out for yourself? Do you see yourself on a potentially award winning or Hall of Fame career trajectory? If your player is just starting out, what goals and visions do you have for yourself? 5 TPE (400 words)
Well for the lazy readers, to sum it up quickly, I think my career so far has been almost what I wanted but I see a positive trajectory for it going forward. So some history on me, I got drafted in the S18 draft and was called up right away by the Yellowknife Wraiths, where I still play today. During the first two seasons, I was playing at defensive end, instead of my natural linebacker position. This was in part due to the great linebackers we had at that time and the Wraiths having a small hole to fill at the defensive end positions. The two seasons I had there were fun. I could have stayed down for a year and then taken over the middle linebacker position but decided to put some strength training in over the offseason and enjoy it! I even got myself nominated or I guess voted to the Pro Bowl in my second season in the league.
So after those two seasons, I moved back to my more natural linebacker position. First I played a season as middle linebacker and then the last two I have been playing as the strong side linebacker. Man have these seasons been fun! In a way I guess I get to be the real leader of the defense. Of course Nero Alexander is the true leader alongside Johnny Snuggles, but I get to read the quarterback and the offense and do what I see is best. So far it has been going pretty great I will say. The sacks have really been coming in and I am just hungry for more! Then I guess it is also fair to talk about the stuff that have made this not the best career so far. In one way, who am I to complain when I have made the championship game in each of my first four seasons, but I have lost every one of them! I come back with more fire every offseason, but I wish I had won even one of them and maybe I might view it in a different light.
Looking forward, I feel that I definitely have a shot at the Hall of Fame, making it another issue entirely. Now that I am entering my prime, I will need to put up more Pro Bowl worthy season and try to sneak in a Linebacker of the Year or Defensive player of the year award, but if I could either one of those, I might have a shot!
10) Create an argument for your own player, or for someone else on your team, as to why they should be nominated for awards. Lay out their stats or compare them to other contenders. Make a convincing argument. Written option available for 200 words or more. 2,5 TPE (200 words)
So here is where I make my case for being Linebacker of the year. I know that this year, there have been so many great linebackers, and being among that group, I need to state why I should be winning this award. To sum it up I view that my all around play and how well that has contributed to the great defense of the Yellowknife Wraiths this season make me the winner of the linebacker of the year award. I was able to muster 96 tackles, a tackle for loss, a fumble recovery, 12 sacks and 10 passes defended over 13 games. I think this shows that I was able to do almost everything across the field, was it stopping the run, covering receivers or getting to the quarterback, what more do you want? In addition my team, the Yellowknife Wraiths went 11-2 and secured home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Teams were only able to score 196 points on us and a team not having others score over 200 points on them has not happened since Season 9! Just think about that. So I am the linebacker with the highest number of sacks, I am involved in every part of the defense and am on a defense that is almost historic and a team that is winning. What more do you want?
