Tier 2 – Task 8 – 5 TPE:
My experience in the league has been interesting. It reminds me of when I first cut my teeth on the SHL over 9 years ago. It was a brand new experience then, but my hockey passion is what drove me to learn as much as I could about the processes and how to become a top tier earner in the league. With the NSFL, it’s not quite there for me yet. It’s been a lot of growing pains. I’ve never felt truly invested in this league. NFL Football is something I’ll casually watch on TV, as it’s so embedded into our culture here in New England. I live in New Hampshire, and if you don’t have an article of Patriots clothing, you’re either not from here or have you head so far deep in the sand no one wants to talk to you anyway.
I’ve met a few new people, and a few old faces I haven’t seen around in a while from various sim league experiences. It’s mostly the folks I know from the SHL and wanting to do right by them that I returned here, but I’m giving it an honest go to see if I can stick around this time. Despite my “challenges” that I’ve faced, returning to cast a line, waiting for a bite and hoping the hook sets this time, I don’t believe that it’s anything that the NSFL has done incorrectly or isn’t doing well enough to get me hooked. It’s just simply a culture thing. I’m a hockey guy to a fault. My basement is covered in hockey paraphernalia, I have over 10 Bruins jerseys, I go to multiple Bruins games a year. I’ve never been to see the Pats, the only time I’ve been to Gillette Stadium was to watch the Bruins take on the Montreal Canadiens (what a shitty game that was!). All of the folks I’ve interacted with have been nothing but pleasant and trying to foster a fun locker room environment.
I suppose my only negative feedback I’d pass along is that every god damn scouting message has the same four questions.
1) How are you liking the league!?
2) What is more important, team success or individual?
3) Are you willing to do a position change for us?
4) Want to get a job to make money?
If this will continue to be the case, just have a draft combine where each player can post the answers to these four questions publicly so I don’t have to copy paste the same bullshit eighteen different times in PMs.
Tier 3 – Task 14 – 2.5 TPE:
Arik Eller is a Dane turned American defensive end that specializes in speeding through the open pocket and applying pressure on the quarterback. He’s got quads the size of tree trunks but the personality of a kitten. Sometimes his intensity is in question and his will to win and compete in the sport of football. He’s been the first to admit that the NSFL isn’t what he dreamed about as a kid, and he’s just riding his raw talent to amass wealth to pursue his true goals, using his capital to acquire businesses and power.
He started off the season in Minnesota as a runningback and found himself down on the depth chart. A minor scuffle in the locker room quickly showed that he didn’t click with the rest of the team, so the Gray Ducks front office shipped him down to Texas and with the Bird Dogs. Upon his arrival in the deep South, management determined his skill set would best be utilized on the defensive side of the game and they converted him to a balanced defensive end. This gamble seems to be paying dividends, as Eller has collected 13 tackles, 1 sack, and 5 of those tackles have been for loss of yards.
He remains focused on improving his strength and speed first, and will address the technicalities of tackling later.
