Tier 1: Part 3
There are a lot of things that I’ve been around for in this league that I take seriously. For example, I believe that all the work that has been done on the Wikipedia, while great, is a waste of time and manpower. While those hours can be better used elsewhere, ex. Making the Forums better, potentially changing to a different forum, automating updates, etc. etc., people continue to pour hours into the Wikipedia. If that’s what people want to do, fine, more power to them, but to tie TPE into it, as well as making it such a thing where it takes away other stuff from the site is just a no go for me. I went looking for some of the old drafts the other day, and they have all been integrated into the Wikipedia, there is no longer any hard copies on the forums. I am not a huge fan of that, but I digress. Another thing, that I’ve seen, is that the Rulebook went from being on the forums, to a google doc. I remember, way back when, the Rulebook was originally on the forum. Then one of the old regimes, before I was Head Office, changed it from the forums to the original Google Doc. The Original Google Doc was hell, and was not really able to be edited, so when I was in Head Office, It was my job to reintegrate the whole Rulebook back to the Forums, which I did. To then, within the past season or so, to see it go back to a Google Doc is just asinine. But, again, I am not Head Office, so there is not much I can do about it. I think it’s way easier to leave on the Forums, and it’s much easier to navigate and find whatever you are looking for on the forums, because you can go to each post with each rule section, etc. Another Issue that has been huge, especially these past few days, have been the Awards Committee. I will go out and say, any league you are in, Awards more often then not are more of a “Popularity Contest” instead of who deserves to be on the Ballot. Awards have been a joke ever since the NSFL started, way back in Season One. It has always been, who you know, not what your player has done, and it continues to show even up onto this year. The Awards are a complete joke and trying to rush through every award in a 24-hour period, with little to no discussion about it is just ludicrous. Something that Head Office should do is to extend the awards voting for more then 3 days, and hell, make it a week. Even if you tag on an extra 3-4 days into the Off-Season Schedule, it would not be that big of a deal because you are getting things done CORRECTLY for the League. Instead, you want to try and be to the T by the book, got to go fast, got to burn out this Off-Season to get back to the Regular Season. I, for one, would welcome a longer Awards Voting / Committee time, because then you can discuss, debate, and see who deserves what award. Another issue that I’ve taken notice of, and maybe I am alone on this but it does not matter, is the fact that Head Office has become, in my opinion, just the hiring of “Yes Men.” If you disagree with Head Office then you just do not seem fit for that role, and no bother trying out for it. I believe that Head Office has become more of a push over as of late, and basically a lot of the members of Head Office only come to chime in on issues when it’s them ganging up on what you have to say, instead of actually seeing the issues that members are bringing up. Head Office has always been given the shit end of the stick in leagues, but to drop so low as to, instead of being civil, act childish and like buffoons is just not what the league needs. There needs to be civil discussion, there needs to be order, and there needs to be a willingness to cooperate with other individuals instead of just having your head so far up each other’s asses that you can get no work done. You can not effectively work forward in making the league better if there is no turmoil, but at the same time, you can not work effectively if everyone just agrees on everything. Discussions are meant to be had, policies are meant to be questioned, and throughout it all, this is a League Online in the long run, and instead of fighting like children why don’t we work together to make it a better place for everyone to enjoy?
