I don’t know what happened with the team this season (I wasn’t on it, but more on that later), but the season before, there were about 5 of us that contributed in any meaningful way. After the season the entire team got lit up over it (and rightfully so, I should add). Then, over the course of the offseason, everyone on the team was told that if they didn’t want to participate, they could leave willingly and have a member of their team replace them. The five or so of us that actually built the nomination list for the prior season were told (publicly by name) that we did good work and were welcomed to remain in the team. Cut to about a week later, I’m informed by my GM, at the time, that I had been removed from the team. No DM, no Discord message, just see ya. I could care less now, but at the time I was pretty upset and had several choice words I won’t repeat here about the management of the committee. Like I said, I don’t know if the committee this season faced any such issues, but based on my short involvement with it, it needs way more (or perhaps better) oversight. And just to be on record, I argued hard FOR an awards committee, so I’m not biased against the idea. Just how we seem to have rolled it out, I guess.
