*Eugene Smoothie Post NSFL Draft Pressure

What is your biggest goal this year with the Liberty? are you shooting for any player awards?

How did you come up with the name Eugene Smoothie? It's one of the best I've seen.

Are you excited to take the field for the first time in the big leagues? nervous? fearful?

Playoffs first and foremost. From there, winning a round would be fantastic. I’m not super familiar with Philly’s playoff history but regardless I would love to make an appearance in the post season with the Liberty since I missed out on that opportunity with the Myrtle Beach Buccs. I think that there’s a likelihood of that happening with our young defense being a big and exciting part of that but it’ll still be tough to really say this early.

I guess the only player award I can realistically consider would be Rookie of the Year. I’d be interested in looking at the list of other rookies that are also going directly from the DSFL to the NSFL this season but it does seem like there’s a decent number of them in the S23 draft coming up at the same time as me. It might be hard considering how it sounds like certain positions are prone to getting the recognition based on the natural tendency to get stats, but all the same I think if it’s possible to perform at that kind of level worthy of individual recognition, it’ll contribute to the bigger goal of making sure Philly wins and wins often.

As for how I came up with the name, I don’t think it’s anything particularly ingenious. The last time I created a player name was a little bit off the cuff and that’s probably just how I operate when it comes to trying to make something like this. I think I just liked the last name of Smoothie with the way it rolled off the tongue but also because I made my nightly smoothie to drink. Then it became a question of trying to add a first name that would either fit and compliment Smoothie. Could’ve been a simple alliteration but nothing really stuck with me when I played around with a few ideas. With my desire to create and use an Asian based player render, Eugene Yang, one of the members of the Try Guys was somebody that just popped to mind. My girlfriend is a big fan of their channel so they’re somebody that I watch semi regularly. Honestly, picking him as a render might’ve been more fun because he’s been in some wacky photo ops and isn’t afraid to dress around for fun. We’ll see, right now Hines Ward's smile is just infectious and every time I think about changing it to another render, I see it and change my mind.
