Your first day of practice with a new team is a lot like any other first time experience. You're a little excited but there are definitely nerves too. After all, you are expected to learn a lot in a very short period of time. You have to learn how each and every one of your team mates play, how the coach wants you to play, how the coach wants the team to play.....it really can be quite the learning curve for some players. It can also be quite stressful depending on the team dynamic. Luckily for me, the Yeti have been nothing short of amazing in helping me and the other rookies integrate into the lineup and learn their style of play. The vets are always looking out for the small "rookie mistakes" and making sure we correct them to better play the system. They've been helping us with our physical training too; showing us some new exercises and drills that should help us play against the men of the NSFL. This isn't high school anymore and the opposing team is going to be a lot bigger and a lot tougher. For as hard as they work, they also know how to have a good time. Having a great team like this makes coming to practice feel a lot less like a job and a lot more like a hobby and I couldn't ask for anything else.
