just gonna address a few things in a carpet statement here then:

Memento Mori and Billybolo53 i guess ive never seen this kind of predictions engagement before? everyone i know or talk to its a chore, and makes it a bit harder for casual members since now you HAVE to be logging into the site and checking regularly. Even for non-casual members like I was as the commish it can be hard to set aside time to log in to the site every day. Maybe this is a new thing? I only bring it up because in my time with the league ive only seen a minute amount of people actually give effort with predictions, and even then ive never heard them say they find it fun. The vast majority of people i talk to either just copy someone else's predictions or are like me and just look at the teams and say "yolo". Maybe thats changed? just certainly hasnt been my past experience with not just me but others, and I havent seen any predictions discussion or excitement in the two locker rooms im in right now.

You've not mentioned the objective measure of engagement again which I referenced in my previous post. More PTs = more time spent on the forums = more activity on the forums and all the other positive stuff it brings.


Regarding the more subjective question of whether people enjoy it, they certainly talk about it a lot. This is the number of messages in my DSFL locker room with the word 'predictions' in, if we were to expand it to responses to these messages, messages about predictions that didn't refer to them specifically as predictions, people using the emote we used to use for predictions etc. it'd obviously be into the thousands. Maybe the users who've been around longer don't really care, but as the reactions on the forums and on discord have indicated, the newer users very much enjoyed the predictions PTs. To put it bluntly, there's more of us than there are of you and I'd rather see the league attempt to appeal to the huge number of enthusiastic new users helping to drive the league forward than to the old heads.

Billybolo again, I like the trivia because I think the history is interesting. Obviously as an old timer i love getting reminded of what happened in the past (usually hehe). But also I just dont see the issue with Trivia being a "glorified activity check." isnt that somewhat the point? on top of that, isnt weekly predictions just 3 separate "glorified activity checks"? I'm not against predictions to be clear, just prefer Trivia over predictions. But I just dont know why its a big deal if trivia is easy. Isnt this just a hobby? It always confuses me that a lot of people want to make money earning easier because this is just a hobby, even though its already so easy and broken that we've had multiple attempts to fix the money system this year, let alone our entire history, but then people see an easy PT to do and they want it removed. It just is confusing to me.

I know this part wasn't directed at me, but one of the reasons trivia is a glorified activity check and predictions aren't is because for trivia there is one correct answer that you know is correct when you submit it and everyone receives the same amount of TPE as a result. It's an activity check where you paste some answers in a PM rather than just typing your player name. One of the stated reasons they kept trivia was for "variety", but trivia is actually very similar to another PT we have (activity checks) whereas predictions are unique in that they relate directly to upcoming/ongoing sims.
