It was NSFL draft day for Bruce Buckley and it was a great day for Bruce Buckley, he was still celebrating his Ultimini championship with the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers as draft day was approaching. There was a draft day party which also coincided with championship celebrations since they lasted a full month and may have resulted in the poor season the following year in Myrtle Beach.
It was now draft day and the atmosphere was rife with anticipation, excitement and nervous energy. People like Brandon Booker, Johnny Hellzapoppin, Heath Evans, Troen Egghands, Cuco Clemente and James Angler from the championship team were around all eager to get their name called on the big stage. Buckley had 2 goals for himself on this day which was to be one of the top lineman drafted and go to a supporting team in the end.
The draft went on and he watched his teammates get drafted one by one, Booker went to Philadelphia, Hellzapoppin went to Yellowknife, Evans went to Arizona, Egghands went to Austin and Clemente went to new expansion team in Sarasota. All of Buckley’s friends had left the aprty and they got whisked away to their new facilities and to their draft parties. Buckley was almost alone when the Arizona Outlaws with the 39th pick went on the clock…
