Finally we are talking about expansion, fine. Looking at the current teams in the NSFL, it is clear to see that an expansion should consider to announce a team from overseas, namely from Europe. With the big S22 class and thereafter, a trend of more and more European players to join the league can be noted. In the opposite of the NFL we are based off, we don‘t have the disadvantages of a European franchise. There is no travelling to games and the time differences are already given, but don‘t affect any games or league stuff.
But where to place a franchise in the nation conglomerate called Europe? That‘s a hard decision. I, for me, have decided prior to joining the NSFL, what team is needed in Football. No matter what, no matter where. It is situated in Austria, because why not, and the team is called the Lichtenau Graders. Now you‘ll have two questions – what on earth is Lichtenau and why are they called Graders? Well, first, Lichtenau is a small village in the north of Austria. It‘s known for it‘s farmers and for one special company, doing earthworks. Lichtenau makes up for its small size with it‘s enthusiasm for Football. Nowhere you go you‘ll be able to avoid two topics, the current milk price or the latest in and outs of the big league. If I still have to explain you the second term – Graders – you may not know what earthworks does and what machines it uses. A Grader is used to plane, flatten or – you may guess it – grade the ground, to even level it. What is more fitting to a Football franchise than planing over the opponent?
I think I made my point clear, and I hope HO will make a step towards me so we setup all the detail for then new franchise, the Lichtenau Graders. I‘ll call the earthworks company so we already start building the stadium. See you next season in Lichtenau!
