When it comes to an expansion team there are a couple of things that are important. First you need a fan base. You need to choose a place where there will be following from Day 1. Next you need to make sure it is a location that excites potential players. Finally, it needs to be a place that shows significance. To me there is no better place for that than Daytona Beach, Florida. My dream expansion team would be known as the Daytona Beach Speedsters. A name that derives from the history of automobile racing in Daytona. Daytona Beach would offer a fan base that is willing to sit and watch cars make four left turns for almost four hours, so you know something like football would capture and keep their attention. The name will also tie in the history of that NASCAR has in the area and will elevate the team in the area. Another reason Daytona Beach is a great choice for the expansion is they will have an instant rival in the Sarasota Sailfish. Games between these two teams will be classics and garner plenty of attention from the whole country. All these reasons put together shows why Daytona Beach would be a great expansion team. They have the name, the fan base, and the location. What more could you ask for?
