Birmingham Steel makes no fucking sense though, since we had nothing to do with the steel industry in Britain at all. There are so many options that could have worked for my city (Bulls, Lions, Spitfires, Gunners, Bombers, Archers, Shield, Blitz, Jazz, Rage...) and they went with *steel* ...? A famously Sheffield-related thing? Get in the fucking sea, mate.
Some cool suggestions here though. A lot of people clearly phoned it in, but there's some really nice concepts. Chihuahua missed a trick by not naming the team after another breed of dog though. Or even a type of cat for the lols.
We do not use the names Albion or Columbia in the US to refer to Britain and the US. Apologies for my lack of cultural knowledge. I think the writer of the Birmingham Steel wanted to draw attention to metal rock bands from that area.
