When I first joined the NSFL, it was just a whim for me. I honestly didn't know what to expect, having heard of this league from a twitch streamers discord server, but being intimidated by it being a fourm based league. I only had experience with discord based ones. However, after an incident had me leaving a sim league who's name I won't mention here, I was looking for a new main sim league especially during quarantine. I decided to say "screw it" and join this league, finding it to be a great league to be my main one after figuring out how it all works.
I created Eric Richards and made a complete backstory for him. Since I didn't know enough about the league to make media about it, I decided to make media about Eric. Came up with his father Dean, his mom Jane, and his fiancé and eventual wife Clair. I slowly worked on getting and understanding how TPE gains and all that works and waited with anticipation for the DSFL draft. I was taken with the first pick of the third round by thr London Royals, a team I may not have had as many interactions with but ultimately a team i will play hard for. My motto was that I would play hard for whoever drafts me.
Despite a rough start in the preseason, my first season in the league with the Royals was great. We went through both great highs and crushing lows. Overall a well balanced season emotionally. I also met many people I would consider friends, like Slyphreni and Rabidsponge. Sly in particular would help me a bunch, especially with my podcast NSFL Ramblings. He let me on his podcast as a guest, and also let me upload the podcast as my own. Then I started doing solo podcasts and people got a kick outta those and my last podcast had a guest on it so thats pretty cool.
The Royals made the playoffs by the skin of thier teeth with the team we were racing against blowing thier last two games. The excitement in the Royals locker room was insane, and it increased tenfold when we upset the Grey Ducks and reached the Ultimini. Unfortunately we would not win it, but for me reaching the championship in my first season was amazing. Afterwards I won Linebacker of the Year which was an amazing surprise. Everyone in the Royals locker room was congratulating me afterwards. I also made the pro bowl and had an ok performance. Just making the game was an honor for me.
Then came the NSFL draft, whete I somehow fell to the 43rd pick, where I was picked by the Chicago Butchers. I was a little peeved by being picked so late, and even the commentary team said I was a steal. Bayley himself thought, and still thinks, that I was the steal of the draft. In terms of TPE gain and activity I might be up there honestly. Going into the Butchers season I knew this was gonna be a rebuilding season for the Butchers and that my goal was to keep on getting TPE and upgrading so we can get better, which we all have. We are slowly but surely catching up and have wins over the Liberty, Outlaws, and a shocking blowout win over NOLA. Most recently we kept up with Sarasota until they got a last minute touchdown. Rough loss, but it shows how much we've grown.
Overall I have enjoyed ny time in the NSFL immensely so far. I have even got over the crushing losses pretty quickly with my teammates being such good team players. I love the feeling of team spirit with both the Royals and the Butchers, with them both helping me get used to how this league works. Thank you NSFL, and here is to many more seasons to come.
