Of course i gotta pop in when there's a Wing of Honor Induction.
I did some stats gathering for Maddox, and the amount of personal success he had is pretty darn impressive once you look at the context of his career. Sure it helped that he got to play with two of the best QBs ever in league history (Gambino & Covet the Hagraven), but during his 11 season career he was the primary WR only for 3 seasons, and he was still out touched by teammates in 2 of those seasons.
S12 rookie season, playing behind Vinny Valentine, L'Alto and Declan Harp in the DC. (VV and L'Alto are/will be Hall of Famers)
S13 L'Alto went to COL for a season, but Maddox still behind VV and Harp. In fact, Harp had a career season with 100+ catches
S14 L'Alto returned and he, VV, Squanch and another HofF Brown had more receptions that Maddox
S15 Maddox continues to have fewer touches than L'Alto, VV, and Brown
S16 post expansion team loses VV and Brown, Maddox is still out touched by Nagasawa, and tied with L'Alto
S17 Maddox started at team's lead WR, but Baltimore trades for Sunnycursed
S18 Sunnycursed remains on the team
S19 Maddox is finally Primary Wide Reciever, but actually gets out touched by Espeeyeeseetee
S20 Finally leads the team in receptions for a 6-7 final record
S21 new acquisition and Future Hall of Famer Apollo Reed finishes with more receptions
S22 post expansion the team looses starting QB, only wins 3 games and rotates players as team's primary receiver.
So in his 11 seasons, Maddox only led the team in receptions in two season. Despite this he secured 1000+ yards in 7 seasons, had 6+ TDs in 9 seasons, 10+ TDs in 4 seasons. had a season AVG of 19+ in 6 seasons.
Career Totals are 147 Games, 594 Rec, 10728 Yards, 18.06 AVG, 86 Long and 92 TDs.
He is #3 for Career Recieving TDs
#2 for Career Longesst Catch
#9 for Season Receiving TDs
#9 for Career Playoff Catches
#6 for Career Playoff Receiving Yards
#5 for Career Playoff Receiving TDs
#9 for Career Playoff Longest Catch
And if anyone ever calculates career AVG, i bet $10M he would be in the top 5 easy, with good odds of being #1. In comparison unanimous Hall of Famer Trey Willie had a career AVG of 16.4.
He's had
8 Playoff Apperances
3 Conference Championships
3 Ultimus Apperances
1 Ultimus Ring
7 Pro Bowl apperances
and finally 2 WRotY awards
