I guess you could have items that could only be purchased with contract money, like those "regression passes" for example. Paying a player in his prime a lot of money would make more sense to fight regression.

Agreed. I think making the league more grind-y is really dangerous.

I brought up the idea of being able to fight regression for a lot of money in a previous thread, as it's one of the few ways the very-rich could use their money in a way that wouldn't be completely game-breaking. Even that feels a little risky though.
