I think an interesting rule or change would be to give players an option to potentially change how they play for upcoming games. For example, a defensive lineman may want to play more conservative against one team as opposed to the other. The lineman can set his or her play style to one where they will have a higher chance of preventing big runs but give up probability for sacks or tackles for loss. On the flip side, they can switch to an aggressive tactic to try and maximize sacks and tackles for loss but may give up huge runs up the middle.
I believe there should be a default middle point where nothing is affected. But this can encourage players to have discussions with their GMs to determine how they should play against certain appointments. If a conversation is had and the decision to adjust the play style is made, only then will it change. I think it would be interesting to see how some players will be very team oriented while others may want to boost their stats while risking team performance. I am not familiar with the simulator so I am unsure if this is even a possible addition that can be made, but it might be an interesting one in theory.
