One of the biggest changes that I think needs to be made is the process for our awards and pro bowl nominations and voting. In the short time that I’ve been here, every season there has been some unnecessary, obnoxious, blown out of proportion drama related to the pro bowl, awards, or hall of fame. One minor change that I believe would cut down on some of the toxicity would be to hide vote counts from all of these nominations, only displaying the winners or a ranked order of the nominees. I’ve seen multiple times where somebody has a great season and earns a well deserved pro bowl award only to complain on the forums or discord that they weren’t chosen unanimously. I understand that snubs happen in the real world too, so it’s understandable when people are upset. However, given the nature of the site and community in that everybody for the most part knows who each other are, these snubs or perceived slights end up creating a more toxic environment where people hold grudges against their peers over awards that in the end are made up and meaningless. Other than the issues with the site, which I’m sure has already been discussed to death in this thread and was actually announced to be moving shortly before I wrote this, I feel like awards are the biggest issue.
