We wait 7 days after replies stop because that allows for any discussions to continue and for the writer to make sure it's finalized.  Maybe we could move that to 5 days, but I'm not sure how much a difference that would really make.  We can't do next day grading or same day grading, that would be too unreasonable for the graders.

Could we require a statement by the article writer telling you it's ready to be graded? Once you receive that you grade but leave it out for discussion.

Would that be too hard to keep track of? Sounds like it could get messy
