As a new player coming in before the S23 DSFL draft, I was certainly a bit nervous about jumping into all of the various locker rooms that I was being invited into. More than anything, I was nervous about jumping into conversations with all of these established users of the league I had just joined. One thing that helped me ease my way in though was the Discord game, Epic RPG. I started playing as a prospect in the London Royals locker room and used that as a way to help me interact with some of the more experienced users there. Little did I know that two of the people I was playing with were two of the most influential users in the Royals locker room. From that point, I expanded my participation beyond the Epic RPG channel into the public channel and became more familiar with the other prospects as well as the existing members of the Royals. I still spend more time than I should in the Epic RPG channel, but what can I say, it’s arguably the number one reason I was ultimately drafted by London that season. I’m happy to say that I have improved upon that draft stock for other reasons not related to Discord games though.
