My player, Killian Chambers, just played his first game in the DSFL. After getting drafted to the Grey Ducks at pick 18, the first game of the season caught Chambers’ eye. It was against the London Royals. He knew several prospects that got drafted there and was excited to go up against them. The game started horribly for the Grey Ducks. They failed to score any points in the first half and found themselves down 17-0 entering the 3rd quarter. It would take a miracle for them to come back.
Midway through the 3rd quarter, the Grey Ducks drove 78 yards down the field before Mike Rotchburns scored on a 1-yard run. After kicking the ball to London, the Grey Ducks were able to force a quick 3 and out to get the ball back. Like last drive, the Ducks were able to punch it in from the 1, with RB James Vermillion doing the honors.
Unfortunately, the Royals responded with their lethal passing attack. Traveling 60 yards in two plays, they scored on a 28-yard reception. The Grey Ducks were able to get into field goal range on their next drive but missed a 44-yard field goal. Down by 10, the Grey Ducks were able to get the ball back with around 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Vermillion ran for an 82-yard touchdown, cutting London’s lead to 3. However, it was little too late as London held onto the lead to win 24-21.
