My tidbit of trivia hearkens back to my first and only season in the DSFL. I was part of a lauded S22 cornerback class which saw 9 CBs taken with the top 35 picks in the DSFL draft. If you include safeties, defensive backs made up 17 of the top 42 picks, over 40% of the first five plus rounds! As one of those high picks, there was a lot of pressure for me to perform well for my team, the Luchadores. As the number one cornerback on the team, taken along with fellow fourth rounder Ozamataz Buckshanks, I was relied upon to shut down the number one option for the other team. Here is my piece of trivia: of those 17 defensive backs taken in the first 42 picks, I am the only one who did not record an interception that DSFL S21. The issue was not my failure to earn TPE. I was only tenth out of those 17 in TPE totals at end of season, but the margin between me and many of the people in front of me was <10 TPE. I played well in coverage, with 12 PDs, good for top ten in the league. I just did not intercept any passes. Many other rookies picked off lots of passes. Zamir Kehla had five. Alexander Hamilton III and Sebastian Vettel had four each. Most of the other rookie DBs taken early in the draft had two or more. Yet, there I was, a player who played outside cornerback the entire season for a DSFL franchise, had good TPE earning, and did not record a single interception.
