During the current offseason, the Yellowknife Wraiths had just been crowned Ultimus Champions after several seasons of heart-breaking playoff defeats. Spirits were high in the team locker room, with celebrations flowing in the week post win.
However, Cooter Bigsby had been declared missing by the team management and local law enforcement had stepped in to handle an investigation into the matter. The guys on the team knew that’s just how it would always end with Cooter, but the police thought the matter was suspicious and a local hero going missing meant there was big pressure on them. Mathias Hanyadi was the last person on the team to see Cooter in the minutes just after the game and was first to be interrogated. While his story all checked out and he was released. One by one they went through the team questioning people and eventually Patrik Money was called in.
While he hadn’t had the same long relationship with Cooter as some of his teammates had, Money was questioned for a long time due to his strange behaviour in the interview and lack of alibi on the night of his disappearance. What the police didn’t know was that this was because Money was still highly intoxicated from celebrations. He couldn’t provide an alibi because on that night, Money and a couple of his other teammates had many drinks and then broken into the local zoo and stolen a tiger. As this was a separate ongoing investigation by the police, Money didn’t want to get himself and his teammates in trouble for this. The tiger was being kept at the practice facility and had even helped out in some of the training drills the team put on for the rookies. Eventually Money and the rest of the team were free to go. The tiger was returned to the zoo in an anti-heist the next weekend.
