So most everyone knows the story of Jamar Lackson’s F speed performances for weeks three and four of the regular season a few seasons ago, in season 22. Even some of the rookies know about it thanks to its perpetuation in the Minnesota Grey Ducks Locker room. But many people don’t know that the re-playing of those games was not only annoying for teams that had gone 2-0 originally, like the Portland Pythons, but it was also annoying for the players that had good performances in those games, like the Portland Pythons’ rookie running back, Joseph Petrongolo. In the previous games, weeks one and two, Petrongolo had something of his own F speed moment, picking up 9 yards on 16 carries. However nothing was done about this. Then came week three, when he was feeling better. Against the Dallas Birddogs, he put up some pretty good numbers for a rookie, however he failed to reach the end zone. But week 4 against the London Royals, Petrongolo scores once in the first half, and then broke away from the secondary for a 62 yard banger of a run, his longest yet and his second touchdown of the night, AND there was still more than twelve minutes left in the fourth quarter. At that point Petrongolo had 2 touchdowns and 139 yards and with almost a full quarter left who knows how he could’ve done. Witnesses to the original games say Petrongolo ended with over 150 yards, but there is no way to confirm this as major television networks deleted all footage of the game, and the only known existing footage of the game is one 9 second clip of Petrongolo’s “Beast-Snake” 62 yard run.
